Nice to see K&C's new palm trees. Just curious though. Is there any difference between the palm trees of north Africa and those of the Pacific islands??

There are hundreds of species of palm trees in the tropics and more than 150 species in the subtropics. There is a big difference in how they look so if you put a common North African Palm next to a common Pacific palm, they would look different. There are date palms and coconut palms, etc.

One obvious difference is that Palm Trees in the Desert should not have Coconuts

Don't forget the lowly cabbage palm. My home is in what once was an ancient palm forest. I have three 80 footers in my back yard - Which make me very excitable during hurricane season.

True, Dates are a poor Desert substitute imo, especially on the back of a Camel.

Having been raised in south Florida, with all kinds of palm trees and banana trees in my back yard, the King & Country palms look like they are Date Palms from the middle east, but with extra narrow trunks and banana frond leaves. The palms don't quite look like anything I've ever seen. They appear to me to be an attempt at a very "generic" palm. Probably just fine for people who haven't lived in a palm-ridden environment their whole lives.

I am assuming those little round things under the palm fronds are supposed to represent dates and not coconuts. From the pictures, these trees don't look anything like coconut palms.

Buildarama does some palm trees that would go very well with the pacific. I believe they are what you would find on the pacific islands, not really in the desert. I have these myself and they look really good. JG miniatures I believe are date palm trees.

I think that covers it. The BAR palms are Pacific Island palms. The JG Miniatures palms are date palms suitable for North Africa. And the K&C palm trees are also for North Africa.
