Panther ws072 (2 Viewers)

Just looking at mine now and there are no paint leaks or overspills at all.I like the three colour camo on this and i also think the Zimmerit is done in a subtle understated way.We have a Jagdpanther at the museum and the Zimmerit does not jump out at you,its smoother than you think.I think this is a very good version of this well known monster and it also come with a good crew. The guy looking for Allied fighter Bombers is excellent.

I'd like to see K&C do either a white washed or Ambush camo scheme next for the Panther.

K/C's Best tanks to date: AK Panzer IV , FOB Panzer IV, StugIII, and of course the AK Tunsian Tiger (add-on exhaust grills would have detailed the Tunsian even more).......I did not like the WS 072 panther and chose instead to buy the Honour Bound Version which I thought was better....I personally was a bit dissappointed with the new King Tiger (a good piece ; but lacking some detail)......If K/C produces a Winter Tiger to the same standard of excellence as the 4 tanks mentioned above.....they will fly off the shelves even in a slumping economy.....IMO.....regards

I like the panther but agree with your singling out of the best armour recently. But for me the AK Tunsian Tiger is in a class of its own and Alex's repaints showed it off just as impressive in other camoflage colours:cool::cool:

To Whom it may concern...........I have a panther and I also like it......As far as scale is concerned how many of us are really that particular as it blends in just fine with my other German vehicles to the average viewer......

Canuck

These are excellent tanks, but what about the new Chaffee and early war Sherman, both of which are about as good a piece of armor as K&C has done?

I go with Red about this, I don't collect AK but this Tank is superb, and I am sure that we will have more Tiger I in a close future….

I forgot to say that the T-34 is one of my favorite Tank and K&C best ever Tank so far, the details are wonderful.

Cheers.

This is not one my favorite tanks and it suffered in comparison to the HB Panthers, which were then new and startling, particularly with their tracks. The primary problem with the WS 72 were the tracks, which were not very good. I thought the painting was OK and the figures obviously very good. Happily, the track question been corrected.

I'm sure that the next time we see a K & C Panther, the difference between the WS 72 and a new one will be like night and day.

If truth be told, I still like the old WS 23 Panther. It has a certain charm to it.

I recently bought a (like) new in box ws072 from ebay. It was in mint condition.

But I am disappointed. This is the worst paint job I have seen on a K&C piece of the last several years.

I hate to say it, but its on par with Del Prado. The painting is just sloppy.

The wheel yellow drools into the mud.

The bedroll on the left of the tank has yellow slopped over onto it.

The weathering job on the skirts is just lousy.

I think its a great mold, and a great model... but the paint is just not up to K&C standards, including many of the other WS pieces I own.

Thanks for being my gripe sounding board. You will probably see this one go up for sale on ebay soon!

On the bright side, this is only the second serious complaint I have ever had on K&C. The other being the white painted windows on the Soviet Katuysa Rocket Launcher Truck.

I feel much better now that I have that off my chest.

I guess they all can't be winners, but most of K&C is.

I agree with you,

That one was a rare miss by KC. Interestingly enough Honour Bound came out with its own Panther shortly after KC's release and it was much better IMO.

However, the figures that came with the KC Panther were top notch and consistent with the quality KC is known for in its figures.

Assuming one was lucky enough to get a Chaffee with tracks that weren't smashed into a zillion pieces before even opening the box. No, the Chaffee was certainly another "rare" miss....

I was fortunate enough to get a winter chaffe tank with no track damage.....Over-all it is a good tank and I do like it........My only criticism with this tank was that I thought it had too much "stuff" on it.......a minor problem............I think a little less stowed gear "strategically placed" would have been better....... still a very good tank.....The figures that came with the tank were excellent as usual with K/C......IMO

Although there were some that had problems, there were many who did not, fortunately, and for those who got it one piece, it was anything but a rare miss and quite a great little tank.

My only regret with it is that i didn't get both versions!;)

You may be right. I'm just forming my opinion from talking to other collectors and a dealer who said he had to send his entire first shipment of them back to K&C because of damage. Clearly there were major problems with this piece, hence its abrupt retirement after only a couple of months. But for those that got one intact, congrats.

Vezzolf, regarding the issue of stowed gear I agree, sometimes it helps to give character to a tank and give it an authentic lived-in appearance, but sometimes it just looks tacky and ruins the lines of the tank IMO. It's a fine balancing line.

I think this set was a fast and quick response to what Honour Bound was releasing at that time. I agree, when I opened them up, I was like," hmmm, this one seemed a bit rushed".

It's a nice enough set but not up to the bar K&C has set.

It seems if it was retired soon any around would be expensive

I'll tell you one thing about a thread like this, it makes me look at these models again when I wouldn't have otherwise. Love the Chaffee. Were they in the opening scene in the movie, "Bridge at Remagen", where they're racing toward a bridge? I believe they were also in the "Battle of Bulge" movie with Telly Salvalas. The Panther's okay, I would buy it if I didn't have it.

I agree. i got the Chaffee Winter version and it's one of K&C's best tanks. Great detail and quite a weighty piece.
