Started on the camo. today. It will be a "Brushed Pattern" of very light medium brown and dark green. A couple of more washes will be applied and highlighting by drybrush before I add the battle damage (paint chipping and scuffs) to the paint job. 'Bout done with the groundwork, maybe a sprig here or there added if it looks like it needs one. Figure painting will commence once I'm satisfied with the rest of it.

This really is an interesting project. I finally got around to reading the article you linked, I had no idea these things were so successful. I guess it is good they didn't have time to implace more.

I have started work on the pantherturm crew figures and I thought I would share my figure painting technique with you guys, "Hacksaw Man" is the first of the three. Waterbased acrylics were used throughout and though my technique may not be the best out there, it has always produced good results for me.
I start out by painting the uniform in a hand-mixed feldgrau. This "base" colour is painted on the uniform and cap. I then add just the slightest touch of black to the base colour and paint it into all of the creases and folds present on the uniform and cap.
Once that is dry, I mix just a touch of white to the original base colour on my pallet and "drybrush", highlighting all of the high spots on the uniform.
When that layer is dry I go back to my base colour and dilute it to the point of near transparency and wash the whole thing, blending all base, dark and light colours together. When the figure is completely done I will seal it with a light shot of Testors clear flat spray.

I got a pretty good start on "Hammer Guy" this afternoon. I thought I might go with a reed green denim tunic on him with regular infantry white waffenfarbe. Still a lot of work to do on him as well, probably won't finish him tonight.

Hacksaw is done! Well, mostly done, he will still get a touch-up before he gets permanently fixed to the dio. base.

"Hammer Guy" is completed and has been affixed to the turret. One more crewmember to go - the commander figure. I hope to finish him this weekend.
