Hi Guys,

As the company that has produced, by far, the most German WW2 vehicles in “Panzer Grey” I thought you might like to know the following facts.

In general terms you can sell a lot, lot more vehicles in camo than “Panzer Grey”… At least two or three times more. That being said I also love “Classic Panzer Grey” and K&C will, when appropriate, continue to produce some “Panzer Grey’s”.

Think about this… if “PG” was as popular as some of you believe it is K&C’s many competitors would be all over it!

Best wishes and happy collecting!

Andy...

I think its popularity will continue some manufaturers do and are producing 'grey' but, because of your position in the market I think whether they admit it or not, most, follow your release schedule. At least, that is my conclusion based on looking at the market in say the last five years.

I would like to know would it not be viable when say, you have just released the Panzer III in camo and desert to have done it in grey. And would you release AFV's in grey only in the FOB range in the future.

Always nice to hear about these things from the 'horses mouth' so, to speak than rumour and speculation

I wish we could debate the Market Garden range as much as Panzer Grey has been!:p

Andy, thanks for the confirmation on their respective popularity, and I'm sure K & C will keep producing more goodies colored Grey, the Grey FOB Mark IV being one of your best moulds so far imo.

Yes, thanks Andy for all the PG vehicles you have done so far, and am glad to hear that you will continue to produce more in the future when appropriate. I think you have done a great job on all the ones to date, my favorites being the Pz IV and the Stug III. My hope is that one day you will do a Pz III. :)

Guys,
Panzer Grey vehicles are OK for 1940,1941 and the first half of 1942.In the spring of 1942 mottling and color schemes appeared.
For the campaign in Southern Russia, all tanks and vehicles were painted in dark yellow with the same camouflage scheme as the Africa Korps.( A lot of vehicles destined for Africa were rerouted to Russia)
From the summer of 1942 onwards vehicles and tanks were painted in an overall dark yellow, the two other colors red-brown and dark olive green were provided in a concentrated paste; This paste had to be deluted with fuel. Fuel however was in short supply in Russia so instead, waste motor oil and water were used to apply the paste. This resulted in a variety of color schemes applied according to the conditions and the terrain they were fighting in .In the ETO color schemes were more strict and applied according to the book.
When you make a diorama please take into account the historical facts.

Lets not forget though that most Tigers in the leningrad theatre were grey based and whitewashed so, were most of the Panzer III and VI's they did sneek into later mid war periods.

I can see what people are getting at as more of the war was and could be covered by grey AFV's than not if we are going to be technical. I personally, prefer winter camo tanks but, do lots of grey repaints for collectors suppose its all about finding a happy medium.

Just like to say well done on the paint job on the new Normandy Panther Andy:cool:
Great job
Think you could sell me any think with that on :D

Really only a few grey vehicles are needed. An opel truck a 251 and 250 and a 8t0n prime mover. Throw in a mkiii and an artillery piece and you have most of it covered. I am sure andy will eventually get to it. I myself am still waiting for the two big boys, a jagdtiger and an isu 152

That's very true. K&C has made many of the iconic AFVs in Grey and there are only a few others still to be made in grey.

As for the JSU-152, it's Russian, and the last indication I had is that K&C won't be doing any Russian AFVs in the near future.

I agree about only a few more are needed. The Pz MkIII is one needed as this tank was basically out classed and out of date by 1943 and was being phased out for newer and better tanks. Therefore most Panzer III's that were used in the European theater were panzer grey (early models) with mainly the later models like the L,M,N being painted dark yellow with camo. Also, maybe a Panzer 38T could be made as this was used mostly in 40 and 41.

I think for 'grey' buffs it would be nice to see some of the following (not a wish list I don't really have one)

15cm sIG auf Pz. Kpfw. I Ausf b

Panzerkampfwagon 38(t) very interesting AFV

Scheer Panzerspahwagen (FU) Sd.Kfz. 232 (6-Rad)

Schwerer Panzerspahwagen Sd.Kfz. 231/32 (Rad)

Panzer B2 (F) and normal Char conversion in 1940

With the usual 251 couple of trucks and that should keep everyone happy

Honestly, there needs to be more focus on the "early" years of the war.. 39 to 42... Its just that everyone is so obsessed with Normandy!

Grey,Normandy,White,Desert.straight from the factory unpainted....its all good!:)

Its one of the things K&C do very well indeed, always something else to buy from a variety of theatres. I think if they produce a Grey Tiger in the future my Tiger collection will be complete.

Rob

Put this in before but looks like it was lost somehow. I would like to see in the year of the tiger a winter and grey version or, a grey version with shoddy whitewash.

Then the tiger collection would look more balanced IMO

Agreed a (slightly) white-washed grey Tiger and simply grey Panzer III....Have been often requested....and long overdue for some of us....I personnally would also like to see an 88mmflak gun with crew....(Grey of course) ........someday,someday:rolleyes:

I often try to look at some of the popular items such as Tigers 88mm guns jagpanther etc and, try to work out when they may come back. I think we are due a Jagpanther and an 88mm gun and, grey and winter versions would be great. We just have the panther which was discoed after the jagpanther and, not had an 88mm for several years.

I am sure we will get some good AFV's by the end of the year
