Patriot has just announced the upcoming release of a set of WWII German Wehrmacht. Here is an image of the sample. The ensigns on both sides of the helmet will be printed on production run.

We expect these within a few weeks.

Nice AND cheap :)

Peter, are these really 1/32 scale as listed on your site or 1/30 scale?

Interesting. Wonder how they'll fit in with you know who if they're 1/30.

Here are two Ikes next to each other (K&C and Patriot).

We've changed our web pages to reflect that they are really 1:30!

Thanks for the side by side comparison Peter.

I find scale descriptions from manufacturers a bit hard to fathom. The Patriot figure, which is on the left, appears smaller than the grey looking King and Country version, so one of these company's must be a bit wrong in their scale advice.

But even though the Patriot figure is slightly smaller it looks to have much better detail than the King and Country version - so much for the bigger is better theory. Check the pics on both company's web sites for other views of these figures.

Speaking of big, I've read that Ike was a very confident sort of person, but Andy, I don't think Ike's head was that BIG :)

Oz,

I have not seen either of these figures in person, but, based on the pictures, it seems to me that the Patriot figure enjoys a better paint job than does the K&C figure.

What do others think?

Warmest personal regards,

Pat

Hi Pat, I agree, the Patriot figure is a clear winner in detail AND painting. Frankly I wonder how the K & C version saw the light of day as it's rather comical looking, like some of their horses :)

It's like comparing apples and oranges. The Ike figure was made several years when the sculpting was not as good as it is now. Note the catalogue number, DD 29. Quite old. The Patriot figure has the advantage of modern sculpting. If you want to make an appropriate comparison, look at some of the more recent K & C personality figures. But comparing DD 29 to the Patriot is a bit unfair and deceptive.

Brad, should I email Andy asking when the new improved Ike is coming out :)

Here are the finished versions of the new Patriot Wehrmacht Infantry set. It should be on the way to us shortly.

Patriot is also coming out with a new 82nd Airborne set - this is the prototype. We don't have a release date yet.

They are about 1:30, though a bit thinner than K&C.

Here's the K&C Ike next to Patriot's (Patriot on the left). The height is about the same.

They look ok but seem to have shrunk back to 1/32 scale, so now not so compatible with K & C stuff.
