Hi Guys,

Just a short note to thank and congratulate “WWIIBuff” on putting up his little diorama of our old “25 pounder” in action… well done! That old model is also one of my personal favourites.

Re “Obee’s” So disappointed… sorry John (Obee) but it’s a fairly old model produced in 2002, so cut us a wee bit of slack!

As for the future… K&C will most definitely do a brand-new “25” plus new figures and … maybe… just maybe… we’ll get it right! All right, John.

Thanks again “WWIIBuff”… enjoying and having fun with your own collection and sharing your enthusiasm with others is what a lot of this great hobby is all about.

Very best wishes and… happy collecting!
Andy C.

Looking forward to seeing what K&C has instore :) I am sure there is some great stuff int he works!

Andy,

thanks for the feedback, and yes I do know its a gun that was made a while back AND you have improved by 'leaps and bounds' since then, if your current Artillery is anything to go on.

I also served on the M2A2 105mm Howitzer, recently released in the Battle of the Bulge range, and thats really good, just like the real thing.

So when you do get another 25 Pounder into production, Maybe with a couple of paint finished (Europe & North Africa) lets talk about the gunners and thier positions when serving this workhorse of the Royal Artillery, and its colonial cousins.

Ubique

John

The 25 pounder is one of the best pieces ever made as is the German AK gun. Maybe those two will be made again in the near future.

Thanks for the comments Andy. Being an older set, it was one of my first K&C sets and remains one of my favorites.

I meant to elaborate here... even though detailing has gotten better over the years with K&C, sometimes those older sets just have something about them that makes them special, even though they might not be perfect. An improved version would be welcomed though, but I'm not selling my old set to upgrade!

Spot on Duke, couldn't agree more . The 25pdr is a very nice set indeed and still a favourite of mine. Have always liked the guy checking his watch and giving the order to fire. Older K&C sets have a charm all their own and have helped to make K&C the Market leader. Take the Normandy 88 for instance, a terrific set that really stands up well against today's sets. A great gun, excellent crew, make this a set so good that if K&C never made another Normandy 88 I'd still be more than happy with mine.

Nice scene by the way Duke

Good idea Brad a GREY one with full crew (Andy,s favourite colour {sm4})

A new 25ILb sounds good more iconic representation of the desert war than the 88mm and rumours of grey starting to come!!!

Rob,

Yes the Gunner Officer is a good figure, probably the best in this set, BUT....

I wish that makers did not put an officer with each gun team.

A gun is commanded by a Sergeant, and officers are on the gun line to manage a section of 3 guns, or half a Battery. Most Gunner Officers are used in the Command Post, or as Forward Observers, calling down the fall of shot onto the enemy.

What I do like is what K&C had produced with the Napoleonic guns, for example: With the RHA, French Horse Guard and Line Artillery, the officer (mounted or foot) is a separate figure, so you can but mutilple guns and crew, and only need one officer, to make a full Battery. Same goes for the 1914 German WW1 77mm Krupp .

Lets hope the same allocation of officers will prevail with future sets, regardess of thier era, or nation.

John

The desert 25 pounder is nice but I'm excited about the prospect of having an updated Quad gun carrier to move it. Mickey Mouse camo for the western european campaigns if you please. :smile2:

I have to agree with wwiibuff when you compare "Older" vintage items and the "Newer" highly detailed figures. I find the older sets a bit more appealing in appearence as "TOY SOLDIERS". Maybe a throw back to the simple "one" color figures in the playsets that we all had growing up.
Be sure that my BR01s will stand proudly beside my BR79s.

I agree Larry, there is adefinate charm in the older stuff

It would be one possible avenue to fight rising costs. The molds for many items that could be greyed might still exist, and mono grey is a lot easier to paint than pattern camo. Off the top of my head, PSW 222, 105 howitzer, PzIIIH,J, sp88, towed 88, Opel, field car, Tiger, light & heavy prime movers; most of these could be used in FOB.
