Pictures, Comments… and Thanks! (1 Viewer)

Hi Treefroggers,

What you might have heard Vezzolf is that, in general, camouflage sells more than grey… not that grey doesn’t sell well…
Hope this helps clarify the situation for you.
Best wishes,

I have no idea how much it costs to do a paint job in the factory but, to do a good job on grey IMO takes longer than a camo version. Camo is aided with spray guns. Once an dunkelgelb base is on and dry the spraying of camo colours can be done rather quickly depending on the experience of the painter. Looking forward to seeing the grey Panzerjager variant and, yes, it would have been a great idea to have released a grey version of the tiger 1 mould they are currently using with the kursk version and snow tiger

It would be one possible avenue to fight rising costs. The molds for many items that could be greyed might still exist, and mono grey is a lot easier to paint than pattern camo. Off the top of my head, PSW 222, 105 howitzer, PzIIIH,J, sp88, towed 88, Opel, field car, Tiger, light & heavy prime movers; most of these could be used in FOB.

Most Gunner Officers are used in the Command Post, or as Forward Observers...

Of course, what we really need is a Gun Position Officer doing his job... and maybe a survey team :). Not sexy, but...

I've been quietly wondering if Leningrad would be a successful mini-FOB. Would give access to yet more unique early Tigers in grey with pretty white elephants and all sorts of grey other stuff. A popular book is out now about the paratroopers fighting up there. And Leningrad attrition gave the Russians their best early opportunities to capture cool stuff which would lend well to a miniature scene as below. Russians may not be popular, but a scene like this may be a winner. As well as Russian POWs

I meant to elaborate here... even though detailing has gotten better over the years with K&C, sometimes those older sets just have something about them that makes them special, even though they might not be perfect.

Similar comments could probably be made about the original resin Iwo Sherman...but people will be crowbarring that out of my cold dead hands. It's still my go-to piece for an American diorama.

There are a few "oldies" that might night be the best on detail, but I'm not selling.
