My unphilosophical to the point opinion, Chuck was in Nam, so I will buy them in honor of his service. Iraq is close enough get some payback for my 343 Brothers killed at the World Trade Center, so I'm in on that War also.......Alex

My feeling is that no soldier should be damned for doing the job, he was and is given. Whether it is to curse anything military, or to rewrite history books, or to boycott a range of toy soldiers, because their " job "at any given time might be politically incorrect....Michael

Hi Guys,

Politics aside.............

Thanks for all the support and comments on our new items. I personally like our WWII French Foreign Legions and pictures don't do it justice. As for our Vietnam line, there are more to come and I really like the details my guys are doing. Again, pictures don't do our line justice and this is something I still have not been able to fix, we simply don't know how to take good pictures (Yet)!

I have been a little busy lately so I know I owe Gary and Carlos replies on their emails to me.

Many exciting things coming at the Chicago show, I look forward to seeing everyone there.

All wars are horrible, and we must all feel bad for our soldiers that suffer and

die so we can enjoy our freedom.

I would like to submit the opinion that we have never been defeated in a

modern war, America simply chooses to take the higher path since we could

simply nuke our enemies back to the stone age.

I wish the option would be explained to the current list of terriorist nations.

Personally I would prefer we make an example of Iran, or Syria, or North

Korea, before we lose one more of our soldiers in this senseless nonsense.

There is a reason you don't walk up to Hulk Hogan and punch him in the

nose.....it seems to me a lot of the worlds punk nations need a refresher

course. Njja

Your reply is well stated.
Brad, the guys with boots on the ground a did not lose the war . I not going to try to change anyone on how they feel on this subject. I don't how many of you on this forum were there. I WAS. I guess you could say we lost because the News Reporters said so. I saw things that never got on the evening news. You will never see on the news your friend walking and theres nothing left above his belt line. Little hard to take.
I love this country and don't understand people who do not.

Chuck,

The perception at that time was that we had lost the war. I had somebody from the South say to me "Know you now how we feel." I also don't think you can divorce the soldiers from the leadership, political and military. It's a joint effort. Maybe in the end you can say we won as Vietnam has become more open and is developing economically. Once that happens the political may develop leading to a better life for its people which is what it's all about anyway.

Will there be attempt to have tanks and such for the Vietnam War ....Thanks, Michael

I collect Vietnam figures because of the fact that the brave young men who fought in this "controversial and divisive war" deserve to be honored for their sacrifices as much as the Veterans of any conflict. The politicians start wars, and the young American servicemen have no choice but to fight them, no matter how popular or unpopular they are. In a war like Vietnam, the men didn't lose a battle, but the idiot old men in charge tied their hands and caused them to lose the war. I have no use for 99% of the politicians and generals this country has produced, but I honor and respect the men who fought in every conflict, no matter how poorly led.

Explain this line of your statement to me ( "I also don't think you can divorce the soldiers from the leadership, political and military")
I'm not sure what you are saying. LBJ quit not the soldiers. Did we leave with our tail tucked YES.
We did not have to. All we needed was leadership with guts give the orders to keep the ground we hold above & below and take more.

I still think we should have brought the men home and left a crater for

future generations to view....strictly in the interest of tourism you

understand. You know to help them develop their economy. People could line

up at the crater (formally N. Vietham) and say "Wow look at that"!!

A little plaque would denote the spot where Ho Chi Minh said his most famous

last words......"Oh Mommy Mommy" just before he bent over and kissed his

A*** goodbye"

Just my humble opinion

Chuck-
I agree with the sentiment. Having entered into the conflict, LBJ did not have the stomach or political will to conduct it properly. He also micromanaged the tactical conduct of the war through that idiot McNamara. In fairness though, I don't think Johnson can be blamed for the final fiasco in 1975 since he had the dubious excuse of being dead by then.

Hey Rick:

Those are cool figures. How many sets are you planning to come out with? Are you planing any armor to go with them (e.g. Patton Tank, M113 Armored Personal Carrier or 105mm Howitzer and artillery team, etc.)

That would be cool. Again, great job.

Figarti is doing the Siege of Khe Shan. Did the Marines or Special Forces at Khe Shan have any armor or vehicles?

Steven,

Don't know I wasn't there luckily. I bet they did, certainly some 105MM's, right?

Any of you guys know?

Carlos

Hey Carlos,

Steven is correct, we are more focused on Khe Sanh and so for the time being, no military vehicles planned. But we will have cool dioramas and ofcourse the NVA.

I wasn't there either but I did have a draft number. Fortunately, the draft ended just when I graduated college. I would have gone though if drafted.

Sorry, you did, There only one difference between the wars of the past and the 2 "present" wars and thats the press.
If there had been a press black out in both those wars, especially Iraq, this would be over and we'ed have won, peace would be at hand. the press built and promotes the insurgency.
Ray

Ray,

The decapitators, female genital mutilators and other fundamentalists are not readers of the New York Times or the Washington Post. The insurgency would exist regardless of the media coverage. What is important is that basis upon which the insurgency draws support is undermined, and that's not strictly a military one. It is unfair to the soldiers in OIF or OEF to frame it in terms of military successes or failures. That certainly didn't help in Viet Nam.

However, I can empathise with the irritating tendency for the media to direct criticism of the war via criticism of the warriors - every event becomes a My Lai according to some of those commentators. However, it should be remembered that this is not something that's ever going to be resolved in a toy soldier forum. The new Viet Nam sets look good, and are far superior to what's on offer at present from other manufacturers, which isn't a lot: Ozmade have a few Aussies, and the Russian-painted Andrea and Verlinden pieces are too expensive.

You're right, it won't be resolved here, BUT!

Sorry, Couldn't disagree with you more, with every image on TV the terrorist garner strength, they are patient to the extreme( they still refer to incidence during the crusades for god sake) and there only hope of defeating us is if we quit. Hence everytime the media plays up the rediculious liteny fo "bad American" garbage, they draw hope and believe they can out last us.
The media IS the reason we left Veitnam, certainly not the Viet cong. The Tet offensive was a complete military disaster for the cong from which they were forever destroyed as a fighting force. However unrelenting totally Negative press coverage raised the pressure on americans to get out. In 1973 the congress gave in and stopped funding the war BECAUSE OF PRESSURE.
The Media is trying there damnest to do the same in Iraq, they never cover anything positive thats happened in the country, they do't give a **** about the people of Iraq, how women are equal citizens under the new constitution and half the population is freed from total slavery, how kids are going to schools for the first time and getting vaccinations, how electrical service is far wider than at any time in the past and the same is true for clean water and plenty of food to eat and the best medical treatment they've ever had, Where's all this covered?!!!
In the end the fight against evil is eternal, evil never goes away, it's like a black fog that dissapaites and reconstitues itself somewhere else.
By showing a constat flood of negative and weak behavior they are strengthened.
Ray

I have to agree, while I believe freedom of the press is critical, the press is

becoming far to liberal. During the day I watch CNN, FOX, MSNBC, and it

usually isn't long before I shut it off. They are not content to report the news

they want to make the news.

Worst coverage I saw was CNN following a terriorist leader into a bombed out

portion of a city while he said all the buildings were not terriorist related....

not once did they go inside.

And in my opinion Shepard Smith needs to get a grip!

Njja

Considering the greed of media owners and the stupidity of most people, I sometimes wonder just how much freedom the press deserve. I've always been a bit of a gun nut and out of curiosity I recently rented Michael Moores movie 'Bowling for Columbine' to see the other pov. I expected him to say that the the availability of guns was the major cause of the high murder rate in the US.

It does have some influence I guess, but he stated that Canada also has a high proportion of gun owners, yet has a very low rate death by firearm. Moore feels the main cause of the high rate of gun death in the US could be attributed to the FEAR whipped up by the US media to sell papers and air time. Together with politicians using FEAR to shift the focus from their errors including economic issues. I guess Moore has his own agenda, but it did make me think there may be some substance to what he says.
