Hi Treeforggers,

One of my all-time favourite books and TV mini series is and was Derek Robinson’sPiece of Cake”.

Both follow the adventures and misadventures of an RAF fighter squadron (“Hornet Squadron”) during the Fall of France and the Battle of Britain in 1940. So, here’s my little tribute to “Piece of Cake”… hope you like it!

Best regards,
Gordon C. Neilson

Also, right by the wing of the Hurricane on the left, is that a new figure talking to the guy with the ammo belt around his neck?.

This is a fantastic dio. If this doesn't envoke 1940 for a collector, nothing will. Love those Hurricanes. -- Al

Doesn't it just Al, I wonder how much that building would cost to have made?.

Rob

Nice dio. The building was used in the flyers for the 1914 releases with the kaiser on the balcony.

Gordon,
Yet another masterpiece from the master himself, in a word, spectacular.........................

That is definitely one of my favourite diorama's to date. Those RAF pieces look great together. I'm looking forward to many more future releases.^&cool

Beware the Hun in the sun ... ra-ta-tak-tak-tak. Awesome DVD set, best on my shelf (haven't read the book yet, still working on "A good, clean fight"; when are they going to put that one on the screen?) and a d*mn fine dio!

Very well done Gordon:salute::

I've never seen "Piece of Cake", but this dio does remind me of the scene from Pearl Harbor, when Ben Affleck volunteers with the RAF.

First seen it air on PBS (Masterpiece Theatre?) several years back. Was gobsmacked, tracked it down (may now be available on Amazon), and have enjoyed it many times over. Might also be available in your local library by now (got all the the "Sharpe's" Series [Napoleonic] that way).

Series goes through the life of an early RAF fighter squadron from its beginnings at Oxford/Cambridge, time in/departure from France, and attrition in the Battle of Britain. Minor love story thrown in for good measure. Really shows the Spitfire in all its elegance. Beautifully shot, very high production values.

Vidi well, my friends:wink2:

This is an amazing diorama. Perhaps a Me-109 "Emil" with the yellow nose or a Ju-87 B could be released as well. All those Spitfires and Hurricanes have to have something to shoot down.

Am I right?
