..............In my opinion, you can't make a bad pirate movie

Mark, the question of Flynn's physical problems came up in the thread "Hollywood actors and WW2" down the page. It discussed how he tried to join the armed forces but was rejected because of various problems including having cardiac problems, malaria, and a bad back. -- AlDidn't Basil Rathbone play a French pirate that Flynn killed in Captain Blood?Flynn was a pirate again in Master of Ballentine. What do you mean that Flynn was a medical wreck?
Errol a great pirate and he was from down under.....:wink2:Didn't Basil Rathbone play a French pirate that Flynn killed in Captain Blood?Flynn was a pirate again in Master of Ballentine. What do you mean that Flynn was a medical wreck?
What about "Yellowbeard", with Graham Chapman and some of the Pythons?
Prost!

Errol had a heart condition..suffered recurring malaria and probably a couple of other thing...that is why he was knocked back from joining the US army in WW2Tom,,,he was totally 4F.....
When Flynn was my age he had been dead for 10 years.
This is either confusing or quite hilarious. I am going to go with quite hilarious!
I think Scott is starting to talk like an aussie......Tom
It's a measure of what was accomplished by an "ordinary" person in a certain amount of time compared to a notable person who appeared to live life to the fullest in comparison. Alexander the Great was dead as what...33?
Quite right - it always amazes me when you see the youth of the 'great' people of history. They do seem to live life at a different pace.

I am an avid Pirate Film Fan. I loved Pirates/Carib #1,3 and liked #4...Charlton Hestons Treasure Island is a classic for me ( after years of waiting, finally came out on DVD..) Horatio Hornblower as well as Master and Commander great ship to ship combat movies..Nautical story telling at its best. Michael

Charlton Heston! Thanks! I just put this on the top of my Netflix queue.
If there's a story about a kid looking for a father figure, it's Treasure Island.
We. just got it Yesterday. I forgot about all the talent in this film including Christopher Lee and Pete Postlethwaite. The musical score by The Chieftans is great! There's a commentary by the director as well.
