Plastic French Imperial Gaurds.HMMMM?
I'm afeared the reissued Airfix are probably your best bet.Sad isnt it?

AIP will work better but you'll have to swap heads and I dont know if the Timpo Gaurd Grenadier heads will match. The Timpo Imperial Gaurds figs themselves leave much to be desired but the heads will probably look fine on the AIP bodies.
I'm still hunting around trying to find a factory for injection molded plastic for my russians.
I have more sculpts done, including some troops in greatcoats, the 1st French elite company etc. I would love to see them in plastic but the hunt continues.

Its sad like you said that the airfix are the best, being that they are so small when they should be the largest of the troops having a minimum hight of -5ft-8in -to get in and most were munch larger. As for the timpo old gaurd I think they are one of the worst plastic napoleonics made and are good for bb gun practice.:p Talk about bad sculpts I think I could make better sculpts with some 2 part putty!:p

Hey fubar have you ever tried that alumalite 2 part resin stuff before in tring to make any moulded figures??? And if so could your share your experience good or bad. I have been tring to make some moulds of some napoleonic heads from some metal castings to use for conversions with some mold builder liquid latex rubber and was thinking of tring some of that stuff out in the moulds when i,m done. Other than that its lead and with the moulds being so small i,d rather go with the resin stuff if it works. I just need a very small amount in the mould as i,m just looking for a copy of the heads for conversion work.

Are there any better Imperial Gaurds? I aint wild about the Airfix, but I cant think of anything else.

Havent done any resin stuf yet.

OH cruel fate! It sounds like I really need to start casting ! Seems like a guy would have to get two boxes of imperial guards chop stuff up like martin yan to get one decent bunch of guards. Kinda takes the Vive out of the Vive L'Empereur doesn't it?

OK next question: where does one get the reissued guards from?

If it's the Airfix reissue guards you're after, CTS stock them at $28 per 28 (16 poses - including an officer that never made it into the Airfix original sets - apparently a dispute over some similarities with another figure produced at the same sort of time).

Hi - A Call to Arms figures - most of the Napoleonic sets foot and mounted are too thin/undersize and this spoils what otherwise would be a great series. I bought my first box of the "1/32nd" scale French Cuirassiers a few years ago with the intention of buying literally dozens of boxes only to be very disappointed. Only having one horse pose is another shortcoming. The British Foot Artillery set is correct scale 1/32nd so why are most of the others undersize?
Hat 1/32nd Brunswick Avante Garde are a good set with loads of conversion potential, but the mounted French Dragoons were undersize and equally disappointing as the ACTA types. Regards, 9thHussar

I,ll have to agree with you about the size of a call to arms figures they are just to small and most of the cavalry they put out are heavy cavalry which should be large men on big horses. They are all over the place with the size of there figures, the british light infantry are a good size as are the artillary like you stated but the rest need to be munch larger and they need more poses per set. The four pose per box is very limited and should be at least 8-10 poses per set. They have some new sets in the works of british 95th riffles and highlanders but I,m not sure if they are going to be 1/32 or 1/72. They show 8 sculpts of each. I hope that they are going to be 1/32 and will inclued all 8 poses. They are posted on the site of the scuplter who made them in there rough stage and don,t look to bad. The highlanders look to be the better of the two sets. The 95th set has some funky looking poses but still nice to see some 95th riffles sets. http://www.figuresculptor.plus.com/ Heres a link to the new call to arms sculpts. He has pictures of all the new sculpts on the site. Just click on a call to arms.

I too was disappointed by the call to arms figures because of their size way too bloody small. The sculpts themselves were fine. The Hat stuff looks nice wish I could find some of the older stuff. Fishead where do you fimd this stuff? Thanks for the link:)

Hobby bunker has the hat stuff! what else are you looking for?

I think that is it. I am so far behind I may never get caught up. (is it even a possibility?)I went to the highland games this weekend found some timpo highlander band figures .

Hi - hope you like the Napoleonic figures, Thanks, 9thHussar

I,ll try and help you the best I can and If you have any problems let me know and I,ll try and walk you through it.

The first thing you need to do is scroll down to additional options.
Then click on manage attachments!

Then click on browse to search your computor to find the picture you want to post.

Then when you find the picture you want to post click on it and then hit the open button. (you can right click then hit preveiw to see if this is the photo you want)

Then hit upload!

Now go back to the top half of the screen where you type your posts and look at the little small yellow box(if you put your mouse over it it will say insert image) Click on that and type in the image name or number that came up when you found it in manage attchments and then press O.K. and the image will be posted on that thread.

Thats all there is to it unless your image is to big but thats a whole other thing to go over so just try to post a image for now to get the hang of it and then we,ll tackle reducing photo size.

Looking forward to seeing some more of your great conversion work!

Where are you getting confused? Let me know and I,ll try and walk you through it. Don,t give up! You can also post pictures on here from an image hosting site like photo bucket if you know how to do that???

Hi Fishead - I have follwed instructions but it comes up with the image is too large. I am not very computer literate I am afraid. My wife is good so I shall ask her and try later, Regards. 9thHussar

Imageshack is good at resizing and easy once you get used to it;)

I had a feeling this would happen!:D but, the good news is now you know how to post photos. All you have to do now is just learn to make them smaller.:p
Try this now! I don,t know what kind of set up you have and I,m not good with computors either but give this a try if you have a windows set up or just give it a try and see what happens anyway. This is what works for me.

Go to the manage attachments and then browse like you did the first time but this time when you find the photo you want left click on it and then right click on it.
It should have a box that comes up with some options, Click on EDIT!

Then look up at the top of the page and look for IMAGE which should be at the top left of your screen. Click on that.

Then look for a box that says stretch /skew click on that.

Now there sould be a box with vertical and another with horizontal and both should say 100% and you can click on these and reduce the number.

What ever you reduce the vertical to (say 50% this will cut the size in half) you must reduce the horizontal to also.

This takes a little getting use to but you,ll get a better feel to it after a few posts.

If the picture is still to big you can reduce it again but remeber that you have already reduced the picture already so you don,t need to reduce as munch this time. so just reduce them the second time like 90%-95% each or you,ll have little postage stamps for pictures!:p

A good idea is to print a copy of this post so you can read along as you do it.
Once You do it once you,ll be all set and what seemed like such a big deal you,ll do without even thinking munch about it.

I hope this works for you, if not you can always try a photo bucket account, there free and you won,t have to resize your photos at all.

GOOD LUCK!!!
