' Plum Pud' or Christmas pudding as its better known these days is traditionally served on Christmas day made with different fruits, nuts and often soaked in copious amounts of alcohol (often Brandy) during its making. On Christmas day we cook it, bring it to the table pour more Brandy and sugar over it and light it, it usually creates a large blue flame all over the pud as the alcohol and sugar are burnt off. Served with cream its delicious. I think its a tradition that goes back to Victorian times.

One of the best things of a very hot Christmas Day in OZ is a hot Plum pudding covered in brandy sauce after a huge Barbie lunch...so much Brandy or Rum in the Pud and sauce the kids will get pie-eyed and hopefully have a kip in the afternoon and give the adults a break...:wink2:{sm4} When we were kids it was traditional to put sixpences in the pudding and all had fun finding them as you ate the pudding but alas the change to dollars and cents meant that can't be done anymore as the coins now are made of metal that will made you sick if you do that....a shame.
