Hi guys,
As you should all be aware Andy C Neilson and Helen Mok of King and Country will be visiting Australia in late July to meet K&C collectors and hopefully gain some more knowledge about Australian military history and potential Aussie subjects for the future.
The only Aussie items so far were the two sets from WWII North Africa which are retired and the more recent Collector Club Figure CF20. Coming very soon (early July) will be a single Lighthorseman WW1. The Kiwis (NZ) have had four items in the North Africa series and next month sees the arrival of a good batch of Canadians.
Whilst the interest in Aussie subjects is obviously big Down Under I thought it would be interesting to have a poll on which Aussie subjects Forum Members might be interested in if they were done.
I would be most grateful if Brad or another poll creator could do a poll with the following choices :
Gallipoli - WWI
Western Front WWI
Lighthorse Charge at Beersheba Palestine WWI
North Africa WWII
Pacific/Kokoda WWII
Long Tan,Vietnam 1966
No interest in Aussie subjects

Please note this is a Poll about Aussie subjects and is not about Brits and French at Gallipoli or the US in Vietnam etc.
The above would be the most commonly requested Australian subjects. No offence will be taken if you vote No interest !

As a K&C retailer in Oz I have a bias towards one of the above but I won't reveal it at this stage. However would be happy with any of them !

Regards
Brett
PS USA and UK collectors note Aussie collectors have a lot of figures of your military forces !

I have never understood why Gallipoli is not much more popular in the toy soldier world. It is a well known and important event. There are great books about it, great songs (Waltzing Matilda by Eric Bogle) great movies (Gallipoli with the young Mel Gibson), yet it has never really taken off as a theme in the toy soldier world. WB did a great figure of Simpson and his Donkey last year but that has not translated into a new range. In 2000 WB were going to do a whole series on Gallipoli based on the diorama at the Australian National War Muesuem but the range was never done. Trophy made some great Turks and Aussies towards the end, but I am not sure if these were major sellers.
Anyway I would vote for Gallipoli. The other theatres have already been done in some form or other.

As I have the two WWII (Eight Army) Aussie sets, I would vote for in no particular order as any or ALL would be ok with me :D

1) Gallipoli - WWI
2) Lighthorse Charge at Beersheba Palestine WWI
3) Pacific/Kokoda WWII

Btw guys, it's Kokoda TRACK not Trail, the later being an American term.

As I've said many times on this forum the Peter Jackson commisioned WW1 Anzacs made by the Perry brothers are probably the finest figures I've ever seen. Its a private collection and only the unpainted masters are displayed on their web site. Im sure K&C can equal them IMO.

Brett,

It's very easy to start a poll. Start a new thread and before you post it, scroll to the bottom and you'll be given the option to start a poll and then just follow the instructions.

Cheers,

What he said! All of these, please:D. Not too greedy am I? I would love to see The Desert Mounted Column with the Aussies, Kiwis, armored cars, artillery, camels. This one unit has it all. Chauvel rules! -- lancer

I would love to see the Desert Mounted Column, but be careful how you entertain Andy regarding "potential Aussie subjects for the future" as you would not want to end up with a set called Australian Pub Crawl. :D I would not buy that one. :D
