I am trying to have an open mind about this, but there are plenty of top notch WWII planes currently available from other manufacturers w/prices in the $120 range. So my question is what is the need for KC to re-enter this market?

From a collector's perspective KC adds something of value if: 1) no one else is producing them (not the case); 2) they are less expensive (from this discussion that seems very unlikely); or 3) they are superior in quality to those currently on the market (remains to be seen but there are some **** fine aircraft manufacturers out there). This is not meant to bash the idea - I'm all for KC producing everything under the sun and each of us buying what we like. Just curious given the level of enthusiasm of a few.

I can't argue with anything you said but I just don't think there's anyone producing planes as nice as this and even if they are or those planses seem as nice as the K & C ones, there's just something about the K & C planes that defy words, that defy logic. There is something special about them. I know I've mentioned this before but since you're not that far away, you should come to the Symposium next year and see for yourself. I think you'll see what I mean.

Every wood airplane I have ever had from that famous Phillipine Mahogany has cracked & I have seen quite a few. In order to gets aircraft in a configuration with their gear down so as to incorporate their respective figures requires a custom order thereby escalating the price point potentially to that of a K&C warbird. I look forward to the Chinese version!

My level of enthusiasm is simply irrational. Just looking at them is blowing.

Pierre.

maybe i dont have the space for war birds in 1/30 but i can find........

yes yes yes

I'm still surprised the poll is so close on this subject, it makes you think if it would be worth K & C making them. I guess one idea would be a limited edition Storch, and see how it sells.

A reasonable assumption. However, I think Andy said that he wouldn't make more until one sells out.

I don't recall he saying it wouild be a limited edition, which is fine with me in this matter as aircraft of this size aren't overly popular - just ask the people at Corgi :)

I don't have any Corgis but what happened with them?

My local dealer used to have a beautiful B 17. Huge. Too bad I didn't get it.

Corgi 1/32 aircraft are very well detailed yet regularly sell well below their RRP on eBay. I just think there is a limited demand for aircraft models that big as it appears few collectors seem to have the available display space. Of course the reason could also be that Corgi produced them in to great a numbers to retain their demand at RRP, and it wouldn't be the first time Corgi did that.

I agree, overproduction, but still the best on the market bar none.

You know guys, back in the 1990's, the warbirds and accessories were about 25% of K&C sales, according to one of Andy's dealer dispatches.

That wouldn't suprise me, as in those days he was selling alot less product.
I don't think there's any way he could approach that kind of percentage today.

[THOSE WHO VOTE "NO" TO WARBIRDS NEED to GO to LOUIS'S HOUSE BEFORE VOTING. To see the B-17 w/ crew is breath taking. To see the Horsa glider with some AN figure sets is outstanding !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Beside I still have a few 1/6 scale stuff to sell to buy more K & C..LOL...Ed.

I don't believe the question was properly phrased to correctly gauge possible future purchase decisions; and then, the question would only be a survey of those who responded not as a result of any scientific sampling, only exposure to this specific thread on this particular forum and if they felt motivated sufficiently enough to respond. The phrase "Would you like" is very ambiguous and lends the question to be too open ended.

But, its better than a sharpe stick in the eye.:)

I saw my first glimpse of K&C's old planes and I now know what makes some people desire them so much . Even though I might not have the room or money to ever get one . I now have the wish to see Andy produce these again. They are true works of art.

Was someone selling one that you saw and if so who got it?

Larry showed it to me on his way out. He had a FW-190 and I can't remember the other for sure but it had an opening cockpit. I saw so many great things some of it's kind of blurry. I guess there were a few exchanging hands though from what I heard.

The Nevilles got a few from in a collection they purchased in the U.K. -- two of which Louis did not have. Louis and company had first dibs and purchased all of them.:)

Oh yes, I knew about those. I had talked to Mike earlier in the week about the collection he purchased, from which I hope to get a few things. I'm sure the FW was quite nice.

Greg, as you found out, once you see those you're mesmerized. I have three and they're fantastic. I can't wait for Andy to start making them again.
