Press release -- "Australians Charge to the Front" (1 Viewer)

Now I'm off to try and negotiate an increase in my toy soldier allowance. Thought I'd start with something like "Well, it'd be downright un-Australian not to get the Light Horse darling", but any suggestions re strategy most welcome.

Adrian

Hi Adrian,
Get her hooked on collecting some kind of TS, even if its a range you don't particularly care for. That strategy worked spectacularly well for me.

Good Luck

Sorry guys we are under strict orders not to disclose anything more. But boy there are some great things heading our way.Simmo.

****!!! Resolve broken!!!!!...and I had such good solid resolve too....

I have, up to now, only collected Napoleonics. But I have also just returned from Bretts weekend up in Brisbane with Andy and Helen and a lot of collectors and Forum members and the weekend was fantastic!! What a great bunch of people and meeting Andy and Helen was magic!! Felt very priveledged to have met everyone up there and I want to thank Brett sincerely for giving some of us 'Downunder' the chance to meet the K&C boss.

Andy is a great guy and may I tell all of you what a superb job he has done on these new Lighthorsemen - All I can say is.. THE LIGHTHORSE LIVES!!!!!!

I have for 5 years stuck to my Napoleonics, notwithstanding a few K&C AWI and the Crimea range, but all colour and within a 100 year time period. Have NEVER entertained WWI or WWII - dread the thought of such drabness in my collection.. But I have to admit, even though I am fiercely New Zealander, my Aussie bretheren have picked a winner and these have turned me.

The photos of the samples in no way give justice to the actual detail of these guys. You have to see their faces - my favourite is the horsemen in full gallop holding his rifle, you can tell he is an expert horseman. And the Guidon bearer has the most determined look with his mouth grimly clamped shut and that 1000 yard stare... Nothing will stop these guys carrying the lines.
Even the Turkish machine gunner, though he is parched and his mouth is as dry as the surrounding desert, is determined to do his work unquestioningly.. now if only these infidels would dismount!!

Already know what my diorama will look like and can't wait to get them. Great work Andy, Helen, and Brett. And thanks HEAPS!! Wooooohhooooo!!!!! :)

Ok thats enough from me

Hi guys,
Just got back from Canberra after visiting with Andy and Helen and Howard. We checked in and soon after there was a knock on the door and it was OzDigger who had booked his trip at the last minute and flew down from Brisbane. Monday was spent at the War Memorial, followed by a dinner with some other collectors. On Tuesday we visited the Annex to the War Memorial where the larger items are and then we went our seperate ways at the Airport. On the Saturday we had visited a re-enactor show and got some good photos. We also visited a small local military museum.
Whilst I am obviously biased I think a good time was had by all. We had a good group of collectors meet Andy and Helen and exchange ideas and ask questions. The reaction to the new Lighthorse figures was very good and many ideas put forward about future items for the series.
It was a very enjoyable event to put together and good to see collectors, Treefrogers and Andy and Helen meet for the first time. Now Andy has met the real people behind some of the Treefrog names.
I would like to thank Andy and Helen for making the trip and for their support. For the last 5 days Andy has been meeting and greeting and taliking K&C from morning until midnight !. I think all the collectors (and many non-collectors) they met appreciated their time and answers to their questions. In fact as I picked up various bits of conversations I learnt more about future plans that Andy let slip when talking. For example we were taling to an Italian WWII re-enactor when Andy brought out some images of .......................................what may or may not be in the next Despatches !!!!! All I can say is there are some exciting things coming.
A lot of photos were taken and I will load them up over the next week and provide copies for any involved. After discussion with Andy I will open another thread for all the photos. I will upload some Lighthorse images on this thread which I had sent to Andy as part of his research.
Thanks to all those who attended and made it a great few days for Andy and I. Special mention must go to :
Howard for photography and driving duties.
Kiwi for re-arranging my Napoleonic display and making it look much better. (He actually drove 1,000km both ways to get to the event).
OzDigger for helping me stuff my "showbags" at the last minute
and Simpson and his Donkey for not "grilling" Andy !
Particular mention must go the wives who attended. It was good to have them turn up and even ask questions. I think they were happy to discover their husbands ae not so "abnormal" as they thought.
Overall a fantastic 5 days.
Thanks Andy and Helen and those who participated.
Now the wait for the Lighthorse to arrive begins.
Regards
Brett

Same here Donnie - especially those photos of all the Aussie collectors attending the event(s). Sounds like they had a great time.
