Hi Steve,
thx. The roof is later resized further to heighten the perspective and fit into the box.

I worked more on the figs. Removed the figure bases and started to repose two figs. The leaning over Egyptian official as his pose doesn’t allow him to lean correctly. I also removed his bulky hands. The flag bearer I decided to place further up the stairs and have to change his leg pose.

Rgds Victor

I selected a printed rug picture and used it for the doorway. The figs were now placed into the diorama and glued in place. A wall decoration (lamp?) was added.

Two of the bare headed warriors were converted to Ansar warriors. I snipped off the hair and will cover this with a head cloth. Also changed the pose of the spear man.

I tested the lights inside the box.

Terrific work Victor, but things aren't looking good for 'Gordo' {eek3} ^&grin

Yes, you're doing excellent work Victor. I like how you've done your figure conversions all looks very natural.
Your customer will certainly have a work of art to be proud of.

Hi Louis and Steve,

thx for yr very kind comments. It’s getting closer to completion.

I made some fig conversions. My friend told me that a couple of these figs are Britains. I found that for a couple of them, it was more difficult to snip away the bases as the metal was harder.

I added the final figs to the scene and made further adjustments to scene to fit it within the box.

Yes Victor, those other ones are from Britains and jolly fine figures they are too, and a cheaper way of bulking out the baying mob of savages as they close in on Gordon !

Hello Matt and Steve,

The best thing abt this Ptg is the expected dramatic ending to come.

My friend couldn’t get the complete JJD figs so made up the deficit with other ranges. I had also suggested to him to get Tradition figs as castings which I could convert for him. But he insisted on finished figs.

He is now hinting about a Rorkes Drift diorama and getting the hospital piece. I’m steering clear of him - got my own dioramas to complete.

^&grin^&grin^&grin You've made a rod for your own back with producing such works of art Victor, your life is no longer your own {eek3}

Hi Steve

I’ll just hint to his wife that Ive noticed that his collection has been growing recently. HahahahahA

Gordon is almost done. Frame test and I’m just waiting to do the final framing before his goose is cooked.

You can appreciate the poor guys dilemma though with such a great result Victor, of wanting more of it !:wink2:

I’ll have to stop this banter just in case he sees it. Then I’ll lose my commission hahahahahhaahha

Here’s the addition of the frame with magnetic holders.

What a brilliant idea !!!!

That way it is easy to take off and put back on ..... I think I can use that system on some work I'm planning !!!

Hahaha ^&grin

Yes you're nearing the end of this project and the old Mahogany cabinet will give it that antique look but with the magnetic catches bringing it up to date for ease of use. Though hopefully your collector friend will not need to do any dusting often.

Hi John and Steve,

I should take up woodworking too….. Hahahahah. The box is garnering as much attn as the diorama.

And I was about to chuck them away following the desires of my beloved. HahhHa.

a couple of gloss varnishes works wonders!

The scene was placed into the box, lights added and I cut out a groove to let the light wire exit.

The correct size mat frame was fitted and I took some pics day and night. The glass cover attracted a lot of static dust. That should keep my friend and his wife busy with dusting it. Hhahahaha

bope y enjoyed this project as well. Rgds Victor

Yes very well done Victor, something to definitely be proud of.
Yes it can be difficult to get rid of those bits and bobs that we just know will vote in handy later down the line !😆
