Tim:

Not only are the conversions really creative and interesting, your painting is excellent! (And I love the grass mat you did...I just finished an 8'x12' mat, it looks nice, but man I hate trying to stand anything up in it!) Also, I just finished 7 French Lancer conversions. I'll post them soon.

Thanks! My plastic figures stand very well on my matts even better then the metals. I base them all on metal washers and then add some 2 part putty to blend figures base onto the washer and with a tiny wire brush I add texture and it looks like grass, then I flock the base. They stand up great!!! I also do this to my metal figure kits also.

Great conversion work, Tim! You really do a good job of giving a set some variety. I like your idea to use washers for bases, too, very clever!

Prosit!

Hi Fish
saw some of these pics on the hat webpages - absolutely superb work !!!!

This will give many of us inspiration to make similar or use the same concept with the other hat figures in their ever growing 1/32nd range.

Like the guy kneeling at the ammo box - how did you do this one?

Full marks for innovation.
Horrahhh!!!

Best Regards

Thanks! The kneeling guy was made from a Prussian kneeling to repel figure by a company called Waterloo. A chopped of one of his arms and cut away the gun and made a new hand green green putty and added a copper BB in his hand for a cannon ball. I also made a new base with a washer and green putty and stuck on an Italeri ammo crate and filled it with BBs also and then finished him off with a new Hat head.

The guy with the rope was made by twisting some fine wire with a drill to look like rope then just rapping it up and sticking it in his hands, drilling small holes in the hands to hold the rope.

The guys with the linen stock to light the cannons were scratch built also. I used a small fine piece of wire and green putty to make the head of it and I used red thread I had kicking around for the linen. I had to search my parts box for some exta hands also. I made 2 of these guys.

This cannon mover pose was pretty easy, its just a piece of wire with some green putty over it. the other cannon mover is also just a piece of wire.

These were on the tricky side! the bucket is scratch built from green putty with bands of fine plastic around it with a wire handle. it was tricky getting this shaped being hollow.
That cannon ball charge the other guy is holding is also all scratch built! I used a copper BB for the ball red thread fine pieces of plastic and green putty and a lot of time only to remember I had some of those already pre-made in my Italeri artillery set! All that work for nothing.:( So I have 2 of those poses the secound with the pre-made Italeri charge.

Colonel Fishhead
These are terrific conversions.
The GIs that you transferred into
the Prussion Army are insprational.
Thanks for sharing.

Those are fun! I can see saving $$$ converting the infantry to artillery as well as having the figures do other activities. What did the Prussians have for artillery? Single trail or double trail (terminology?) I see you posed your figures with both styles for scale.

I just got a box of the marching Prussians and I really like them. Looking forward to the command set.

Thanks for the pictures of your Prussian artillery conversions Tim. Nice work and painting. I enjoy your tips on making figure changes. John

Scott the Prussian Cannon were double trail guns, The single trail guns were british style guns in the Napoleonic era, although using British guns with Prussian figures would not really be wrong either because Britain did supply the Prussians with some of there single tail guns but I,m not sure where they ended up and in which battles they were used???? I used AIP French guns with them because they look close to Prussian guns and I,m also sure they used actual captured French guns also in battle. Besides Where the hell am I going to find plastic Prussian guns to go with these conversions????:p

I just can't get over that you converted WWII Conte GIs into Prussian Landwehr. I would have thought that a pretty drastic conversion, but the finished products look great. Still...the idea makes me laugh...a lot! I guess I need to pull out some old molds of 20th century service dress and see what parts I can use for Landwehr.

I also turned a Marx Viking into a British Highlander once and a highlander into a kilted vampire too!:p By request.:p
Both required a bit of work and 2 part putty.

I thought the double trail carriages were "right" but there's always exceptions. Thanks.

Hi
Hat are due to release some Prussian Landwehr marching and action. There will also be command figures to follow soon - they have sent me test shots to paint - nice figures

Tim...your creativeness never ceases to amaze me...along with the quality of your work...you're the McGyver of conversion...a wad of bubble gum...a match stick and a paper clip...you've made a new figure...that's some nice work for some sweet one off figures...

Nice work there Fish i se you have some CTS Mexican cav i was thinking of picking a set up to paint up as Line Lancers.
I take it the uniforms are close enough? I was going to wait until someone made a set but that that day may never come .
We need more Cav in plastic i wish TSSD would move into Napoleonics just think what a set of TSSD Scots Greys would be like the mind boggles :D.
Ok enough dreaming back to painting or chopping up some figs.

I've been looking at the CTS Mexican Cavalry Cuirassiers and Lancers as French as well. Milliput epaulets might work as well as replacing the wavy bendy lances with plastic or metal rods.
