Morning Gentlemen all, March parcel from John just arrived.
Got up early this morning and been busy painting the backdrop wall and cobbles....
haven't stopped and its now 10am.... still very excited and here's the results hot off the memory stick!
I for one am very excited at this range and can't wait for the next release.

Thanks James. I've got the dead guys, just had not opened those sets yet. I know John has mentioned that he has a lot of requests for battlefield debris and he is considering doing one. Maybe put a reminder to him. I think that they add a lot to your display.

John told me that if this release goes well he will consider expanding the SYW European series.......Marching and firing Prussians for sure.
I think this series is a winner and look forward to the initial releases. It would be helpful for John to give us an idea of future releases such as diorama pieces (e.g. Church walls defended by the Austrians), artillery, cavalry and personality figures.
I know that makers are somewhat secretive these days but it does help collectors plan their spending and space requirements.

This is a really nice figure. I too would like to see where John will take this series, but I have a feeling that he will keep his plans fairly secret as most of the other designers do. It is kind of like a double edged sword - it would be nice to inform your collectors but also not inform the competition of one's future plans in hopes of not getting duplicated. Somehow, I do not think John has to worry too much on that part, but I am partial to JJD over other manufacturers.

I think that I will collect this figure & more in the series to make a small diorama. The uniforms & stance of the figure is really "toy soldier classic", I think. This will be an exciting series to see develop.

Hmmm, thanks for the info, I would be fairly certain we will get some wall at the very least with a few defenders, certainly John had told me he is keen to do more terrain pieces and this set is a perfect fit for something like that, I know that John himself is really excited about this range, and I really hope what you say is true and we'll get firing and marching Prussians in the future from JJD. I also really like the theme that this is inspired by the painting.

Brilliant imagery,

I thought that I'd get one of these new figures, but seeing them in a group, like you have posed them, I could even order more.

The white snow bases look good, standing in your snow, so can't wait for more from this campaign to be released,

Figure looks great, but will await purchasing until I see more of what will actually be produced in this new line. I know it's based on the painting, but how far will John take it. Will he be producing scenics, and Austrians etc.
Still awaiting word about some French figures to man the earthworks for Ticonderoga. Not about to start another line just on expectations on what might be made.

You know, I appreciate where you are coming from with your thinking. It took a while to get more French for PoA, but I think it was worth the wait.

One thing I see is that John is taking on larger series but still trying to keep a few sets coming out from the older ranges for new collectors. If John says that there will be "X" number of figures for a range, I have found that he does do them and a bit more. It might take a few years, for which my budget is grateful for, for him to complete the Prussians, but I can wait. I will pick up some figures since I really like the sculpting and pose.

For me as a collector, it is not about getting a complete range, but getting a figure that captures my imagination. Will I get a lot of use out of it for my money? Will I enjoy looking at it on display, or on a game table ? I think by years end we will have a good idea of what will be coming out for the Prussians.

For those going to the London show, perhaps a bit of cash slipped into John hand, quiet like, might get some secrets revealed?:rolleyes2: okay maybe not, and the cash would be better spent on a Prussian figure so that the series does very well and he makes more.

That's just my late night tired thoughts.

Hi Gents

My first post on the forum. I collect JJD and K&C.

What I like about JJD is his original ideas: War of 1812 and French Indian War. I have been collecting the Siege of Quebec figures.

I am really looking forward to his new Prussian series. The first figure looks great.
