Flight Lt. Reginald "Reggie" Aylward and WAAF Sgt. Samantha "Sam" Stewart watch the squadron's Spitfires head for the White Cliffs of Dover and the English Channel for their daily encounter with German ME109s.

The WWII Song made famous by British "Forces Sweetheart" Vera Lynn:

The White Cliffs of Dover

There'll be bluebirds over
The white cliffs of Dover,
Tomorrow
Just you wait and see.

There'll be joy and laughter
And peace ever after,
Tomorrow
When the world is free,

The shepherd will count his sheep
The valleys will bloom again,
And Jimmy will go to sleep
In his own little room again,

There'll be bluebirds over
The white cliffs of Dover,
Tomorrow
Just you wait and see.

Excellent post, Randy.

"It was their finest hour"

A very nice photograph of Vera Lynn too.

Thank You, Raymond:)

Another great image Randy. I was lucky enough to see Vera Lynn many years ago in Windsor. She performed 'The White Cliffs of Dover' along with many other great songs of the period. I was probably one of the younger ones in the crowd... and it was great to see the looks on many of their faces during intermission!

Another FAB photo that tells a story Randy. Definately a thumbs up . . . .

Vera Lyn recently released a greatest hits album, she became the oldest person to have an album at number one in the chart, She is what they call a ' National treasure'

Dear Randy:

Really great photo! The grass looks real, is it?

Excellent blend of history (my favorite period, glad I didn't have to live through it) and collecting. Great original photo. Need to do some research!
