A couple of folks have been asking me about the price for our un painted Metal castings.
We inherited a difficult task from Abram Simon, due to a number of Moulds being "Re makes" and NOT true original toolings (in some not all cases) and also a number of Moulds being DUPLICATE Copies with only very "minor" differenfes (The large scale bromhead figure for exapmle has a moulded on head OR a spearate head to make Gonville instead) else its the same identical figure. Same goes for the YORK Hussar figure, he has re maked it so all the fine details, the Pomels, striongs etc are all Moulded on the figure body". (yet also lept and shipped to us the Mould tooling that makes the separate pomels, strings etc).
The JG Moulds for the Romans, specifically, the Legionary separate hollow Helmets, Baggage Poles and Cornicen figure , are badly "worn" and the Right and some Left side arms are missing, because he has either lost or broke the tooling for the arms for many of the Roman figures in N Z....We found original Masters for them packed as "stock Castings in a freezer bag !!!. No comment....
Many other "Moulds" to put it mildly are worn, and some ranges have ONLY arms for Mould toolings, and the rest ( the bodies and the heads) only Original or sub Master figure castings in Metal. This is especialy true for DUCAL range.
VERY HIGH REPAIR AND REPLACEMNET COSTS AND HIGHER LABOUR COSTS AND LONGER WORKSHOP TIME
I will work out a realistic labour price and figure casting kit price after the work break to refurbish has ended.
However, I do feel I must say now, that prices are likely to be high, and rather more expensive than previously, in order to pay for all the extra workload and repairs, replacement toolings and part repalcement toolings etc, we have been left stuck (rhyms with another similar word !) with.
We did after all buy a "Business" from the Simons. What we actualy got was seemingly the broken, damaged and incomplete "leftovers" from Father Greggs "unexplained fire"....and Abrams and Ana's chronic miss management at FLEURBAIX.
There was also a highly irregular and suspicious pilfering of our cargo shipment, which the Simons in their "wisdom" left outside there propert overnight in N Z. No comment....
VIABILITY
Rather like John Gittins, now retired, It is going to be necessary to set a "Minimum Order value" for the figures and castings. Be they Unpainted or later, painted.
I will set that value after the recess.
