We are pleased to announce the release of 1:30 scale figures in our D-Day range.

We have made a number of the figures in 1:30, the first 2 being a Durham Light Infantryman and a Royal Northumberland Fusilier. Both these regiments are local to us.

Here is a comparison shot with a First Legion Figure:

Here is the details on the first figure:

This figure is available now at £35 plus p+p

Details will be on the web later today.

Very nice looking figures. They look to match well size wise to First Legion so will work great with Thomas Gunn, Figarti, and First Legion vehicles, as well as the King and Country vehicles that are actually 1/30.

Is the plan to make all your currently released figures in 1/30 with small bases? Will 1/30 be the new standard going forward?

Also I can't resist giving another plug for some German black uniform Panzer crewman.

Nice looking figures but a pity they are so small and won't go with K&C and TGM figures so they won't be turning up in my collection....................:(

Sorry Wayne but we can't please everyone. We've been playing around with various things and we believe this true 1/30th suits Bruce's painting style best. By "true 1/30th" I simply mean that all full size measurements are divided by thirty to find the scale size.

Hunter Rose, we listened to what was wanted and yes, this range will now be made in 1/30th with small bases, although we have worked out a way to also have the larger bases for the few collectors that want them.

For the 1/32nd scale (54mm) collectors, my existing ranges such as "Reveille" ceremonial, will be revived. (I wouldn't be surprised if some WW2 figures appeared)

Any plans to release any of your figures as unpainted kits Bruce?:D Just for those of us who (like you), prefer to paint their own figures.

I did have a look at your web-site, which is excellently put together and has been a much needed display and ordering area for Martyn's figures for a long time - but no mention there of any castings.

Whatever - best of luck with the projects. johnnybach

No plans for castings as yet.

We are busy making the figures in 1:30 at present among some other really exciting stuff.

Thanks for the comments on the website. I will be spending some time updating it over the next few days.

Now if we could just get some sales going we would be over the moon!

regards

Bruce

Okay Bruce - I'll take the "yet" as a positive sign of maybe some changes at some point in the future.

I have bought some of Martyn's figures at times past - when they were offered as castings by the BMSS. When that ceased - so did my purchases, I'm afraid, which was a shame - as they were always first-class, and very pleasurable to paint.

Again - it was the ability to actually SEE them - on a web-site, which stimulated my purchases - and your site is better than the old BMSS site - so could be a major sales stumulus.

When ( or if), you do change to offering kits of castings - then maybe that would generate more sales for you? I'm afraid that at the current painted prices - they might be out of the reach of many people who may like them - but either can't, or won't want to afford them. My hobby is painting - so sorry, I wouldn't be interested in painted versions.

Good luck with them anyway, however - they do look good. I'll just wait and see what happens....;) jb

For those who've asked, yes I will continue to make my figures for the "Heritage Minutures" range.

Martin any chance of some Luftwaffe or RAF. Ground crew ?

Hello Bruce! I'm very Dissapointed that your Figure's are SMALL, and only Match Figarti, First Legion! We Collectors were hoping that your Company will go LARGER 1/30th Scale COMPARISIN with K&C and Collectors Showcase! I, as a Hard-Core WW2 Collector, was ready to Purchase from your Company a Tremendous amount of WW2 Toy Soldier's! But because they are Smaller than K&C and CS, I have No Choice but to Renegg on Buying from your Company! Sorry!

How can Fl and figarti be small when there 1/30 scale ?

The old question of scale again. I personally prefer to use scale (1/30th) rather than size (60mm) To answer your question, they shouldn't be! Measure a piece of equipment and times by 30 you should have the true size of the real thing, if not it's not in scale, simples. The size variation has been a problem for years especially with wargames figure. I'm not trying to start an argument about who's right are wrong but I will explain why I make figures the size they are. I measure a figure from the soles of the feet to the top of the head. I know some like to measure to eye level but as I never give my heigh to my eyes or with high heels on I don't. I base my figure on the average European height of 5'8" or 173cm. Divide by thirty makes 57mm . Add to this boot heels and head gear and you get what is generaly called a "60mm" figure. On the other hand if some one was to start from the idea that they wanted a 60mm figure they could for instance base the figure on a shorter height lets say 5'4" or 163cm but then they would have to divide by 28 to get 58mm and the figures would then be 1/28th not 1/30 and equipment would be larger. Now I have no problem about the fact that collectors like figures of various sizes but I do wish this scale issue could be made more clear.

We have recieved a p.m. stating that "treefrogers are angry" that our figures won't match with King and Country. If you are one of these "angry" collectors. I'm sorry but I believe I have made clear why I make figures the way they are. Personally I like the traditional scale of 1/32nd but as I suppose things move on and change all I can do is try to keep my anger under control.

Well this "treefrogger" likes that your figures are a true 1/30 scale. Nice to see someone other than just First Legion making figures that will actually look correct next to 1/30 vehicles. The scale issue is amusing since as shown above its is just simple basic math.

Anyway, back to your nice looking figures.

Are the British Tanker and SS figure available in 1/30 yet?

Also, I'll throw out a request for German Panzer crewman and 1/2 body tank figures to sit in the turrets of the myriad of vehicles out there.

I eagerly await my first 4 figures, from the pictures they look to be excellent. Not everything needs to go with K&C (I have a reasonable K&C collection too) or any other manufacturer for that matter, its refreshing to have so much variety in the hobby and ditto HR's suggestion for German Panzer crewman and 1/2 body tank figures, much needed and a good call.
