That is just Awesome....I am really impressed with your use of real photographs as a backdrop...might just have a go myself someday!!. Do you use a special printer??...what size paper do you use??.

Thank you !....The day we can say I really cant tell if it is real or not will be the the day I have finally succeded in my mission, I feel like I am getting close.

This work is done with photo layering. That is done by removing the existing background and layering another picture behind it.

I have studied the two B/W photos for 10 - 15 min and I can't find an item that would cause me to question the "realism" of either of the two pictures. Simply incredible!
I have to admit that even the color photo is very close to the same point.
The bar has officially been raised gentlemen!

This photo layering with real backdrops does produce an excellent result, but it does take away from the finished product being done from top to bottom by the creator of the scene. The artisitc side now leans more towards photo manipulation rather than diorama building. Although still about 70% of the scene is hand made the way we present it.

We still get the the greatest satisfaction when the finished scene is 100% BSP as in the photos below. Different techniques will be used for various situations in the future, but it is all fun

We have spoken many times both on and off the forum for you to know how highly I rate your work including these recent pics but, I just wonder if dio makers are at the level of where they can take these figures? I still look at the pictures, not just of yours but Franks and others and see toy soldiers. I don't think any releases from any manufacturers will ever change that.

I come from the model world and background pictures and other things we see being used here for ''realism'' just are not part of it. Competitions etc for figure sets and dio work very rarely had staged backgrounds in the rules or, when allowed used. Everyone accepted the work in the set is paramount not the surroundings.

thats fine and is what you strive for but, thats only part of what Alex is aiming at. my comments apply to what he is doing in terms of displays and photography. I was not saying that the rules for competitions apply here I was just saying and, I am sure Alex will understand that its difficult with what he is using.

We can deliver a scene at any level. They all suit different purposes.

The original Diorama, very simple scene. Detailed Hobby Bunker buildings, hand made bridge, trees and canal. Almost anyone can do this. The hand made stuff can be replaced with many ready made products that are on the market.

Some computer enhancemant to dress it up. I am sure many collectors or their kids are good with computer graphics.

Over the top. Involves complex layering.
