I love the smell of napalm in the morning!

Always appreciate hearing how you guys like K&C's new figures. Thanks for sharing!

On a side note, I heard the napalm scented candles were not a big hit for Pier 1. {sm4}

They look great Harrie and I expect you're have a diorama ready for us to view soon enough too !

What are the marines with the graffiti stenciled on the back of the flak jacket? I remember having read about two figures with the graffiti on...one is the driver of the mule, but the other?

I saw these at the Texas Toy Soldier Show this past weekend. They are incredible and even better in-person.

I'd guess the second one isn't ready as yet and we can only guess what it be, until Andy unveils !

Got mine yesterday. I WANT MORE, I WANT MORE!
Gary

I have ordered the 7-figures set of USMC Vietnam.
Based on pictures from the Texas show, I want a few more.

I have 3 coming..the guy shooting over his head, the one with the helmet on the point of his rifle and the radioman. But i think i'll certainly buy other 2 of the first batch. All are beautiful poses but i tend not to buy figures without base..:) i'd like if Andy could make bases for the 2 figures without...by the way here is Johnson Hired Gun in another example, the art of Ron Volstad for Osprey volume Flak Jackets .

Hi Guys,
Just got back to Hong Kong on Saturday Night from San Antonio...

Many thanks for your enthusiastic welcome to our 'Vietnam Marines'!

I truly believe these are some of the finest, most realistic and dynamic soldiers/marines K&C have ever produced in our 35 years in the toy soldier world...

As most of you already know WW2 has, up until now, been K&C's primary military focus as far as fighting vehicles and figures go...And we will continue to expand and explore different areas of that huge conflict going forward...

But our move into post WW2 conflicts such as The Six Day War and Vietnam provides a creative and historical challenge that is both exciting and refreshing all at the same time!

Where these two series will go in the future provides a wealth of opportunities and possibilities that all of us at King & Country are 'gung ho' for...So, for those of you who want to join us on this new journey welcome aboard and...Semper Fi.

All the best and happy collecting,
Andy.

LBJ's Hired Gun seems to have been a busy Marine as far as depictions go ! One wonders what became of the man himself !?

By the way another suggestio i can do to Andy for his beautiful Tet range (just received the first figure there's "Tet 68" under the base) is "soldiers with glasses"! There were lot of them!

Also i'd like Andy in a future batch will include this wonderful weapon..:) grease gun with fire suppressor!

Hello my friend, always happy to receive all ideas and suggestions...however at this point, weapons-wise K&C will probably go with M16's...M60's...M79...some M14's...and the occasional M72 LAW.

At our recent Texas Toy Soldier Show 'Saturday Night Symposium', Capt. Ray Lau told me he carried a Swedish 'K' 9mm submachine gun when he was trying to get back through NVA VC lines to join up with his fellow Marines counter-attacking in Hue.

When it comes to Vietnam War weaponry there's lots to choose from...thanks once more and best wishes,
Andy.

I never saw a grease gun in RVN.
Where was that picture taken ?

Many Marines had M14s.

I don't know exactly but if you look at the Hue footage you can see a lot of vintage weaponry, obviously many are taken from dead VC (Thompson, M1 carabine) but you can see a black marine also brandishing a Grease Gun with T34 suppressor. The weapon was given to special forces and was certainly in the arsenals, if i remember was taken from CIA reserves (this information is taken from Osprey "Green Beret in Vietnam 1957-1973). I think that when the Marines confronted with the crisis in Hue just like Major Salvati re-discovered the tear gas containers , the bazookas and other weapons useful to the cause some marines pillaged probably ARVN armouries!

Typing Grease gun Vietnam into google and looking at images brought up plenty of Vietnam photos of Marines/ Army / Navy posing with Grease guns, Thompsons etc. The variety of weapons seems huge when if you dig a little deeper you can see even older weapons in use by the various participants. Probably a lot depended on where you were and other units you may of served with.

Still for the meantime Andy has more than enough of his own ideas that he wants to present, as the range expands hopefully we'll get to see some of our own and others ideas being incorporated in the figures !

Steve

Yes...obviously the iconic weapons of the Vietnam War are M16, M60, Blooper etc. i presume the grease gun was prized because of its calibre , dimensions (useful for tankmen!),easy to use in small spaces, also i think the Marine had a penchant for using particular weapons and equipments. In a picture on the beautiful "Marines in Hue city: a portrait of urban combat" by Eric Hammel on page 109 two Marines are shooting over a wall..and the nearest to the camera has a vintage wwII cover for his helmet, just like the one of Andy's USMC range..
