Last weekend's rain pushed the year's total into record territory in the DC area (and Maryland). Total now more than 64 inches, breaking the old record by some 3 inches, with more rain coming. This is 2 feet more than our normal rainfall totals to this point. Yet, every rain storm that brings high water finds morons driving into standing water, getting stranded and requiring others to risk their lives to save their stupid butts. How stupid do you have to be to drive into standing water in a flood situation? Does your car automatically convert to a boat? If the answer is no, maybe you should consider turning around. Hard to believe our area has had more than 5 feet of rain, heading towards 6 feet on the year. -- Al

Wow! This is twice the amount of rain we have got in Seattle year to date...Granted, this was a dry year for us and we are catching up big time this month :rolleyes2:

I don't mind the rain so much, but it has also been brutally cold here since early November. Those extra weeks make for a long, painful winter. Basically five months of cold.

Yep. The combination of cold and wet have basically crippled me. I sit around with heating pads on my shoulders, gloves on my hands, and a wrap on my right knee. Getting old does not go well with this kind of weather.{sm2} -- Al

Did you see the video of the school buus driven into what looked like a river? The bus started to float downstream but got hung up and fortunately the one student on board and idot driver were not harmed. He drove around barriers to enter the stream crosssing.

We also have a record for rainfall in Kentucky and more rain forcast for tomorrow and next week. Chris

Chris, I did see the story. My first reaction upon learning that the moron driver had actually driven around the barriers was that this would be a perfect opportunity to bring back public executions. At the very least, I hope he is never allowed near a school bus and kids again. Hard to fathom that type of stupidity. :rolleyes2: -- Al

That’s a lot! I live in central Brazil and our average is 72 inches/year, and in the Amazon region this average reaches 80-83 inches/year. Considering you’re not in the tropics, 64 is way too much...! It’s hard to refute that some kind of climate change is in the works...

More rain coming tonight and tomorrow. Supposed to be heavy. So the year isn't quite done yet.

Yup, it just sucks, I hate it, I am getting the hell out of MD as soon as possible and retiring someplace warm and dryER

I'm not casting doubt on global warming but I personally haven't experienced it. The last few winters have been pretty awful. I was in LA a few weeks ago and the weather was perfect. Came home to six inches of snow. A lot of folks seem to like New Mexico and Arizona. Great weather, not too expensive or crowded. I like to see a few trees though. That desert moon landscape doesn't do it for me.

Been getting soaked again today. I swear I saw the local wildlife pairing off in line. Water, water, everywhere. :rolleyes2: -- Al

Once more, to see 2018 go out, we are getting soaked. Heavy rain most of the afternoon. Can almost cast a line from my balcony but all I would catch is a car. Don't think the water table level will be a worry come summer. :rolleyes2: -- Al

Same here Al, record yr for rainfall and we've had a deluge today. My roof's been leaking for last three week's. Roofer, who is actually reliable, been out 3 times. Said he will be out again when the weather breaks. :redface2: Chris

Hard to fix a roof if it's pouring all the time. Keep the books and TS safe and dry.:wink2: -- Al
