Hairspray method is where after a base coat you spray any hairspray onto the model then apply say, a winter coat by airbrush or paint brush and then remove a lot of the white with a tooth brush, paint brush or similar. It gives a good effect of water soluable white wash coming off with rain or wear and tare.
I use a product called guache which is like a paste more than a paint which, can be removed with water
