Retired First Legion (1 Viewer)

I haven't seen evidence that people purchased standard bearers for resale because I haven't seen many eBay auctions for them. That being said, I have seen a person list them on Treefrog and ask a very high amount.

The lack of standard bearers does seem to affect a range. If you take a look at the Prussians, an older range, there are many still in stock.

Brad, It MOST CERTAINLY and definitely affects interest in a range.....I purchased many of those FL Prussians and I wish more were made available and in more poses.....The FL Prussians are a prime example of another stagnant range due to no standard bearer....I purchased one Prussian Flag-Bearer and 2 drummers long ago along with figures....I would have purchase more drummers if they were still available for this range.....I'm glad that FL is going to release a Prussian Artillery set......I would also would have purchased more Russian Grenadier Taurides if produced....I was lucky to get a few back then and have a decent collection of them but certainly would like to add more to my battle line......Hopefully FL Mass battle NAPS will have these again.

Great if we could get an answer from First Legion since it seems that the common theme here is "please produce another round of standard bearers for the Gordon Highlanders and other ranges that you still offer that no standard bearers are available any more"!!! From what I am reading this will help with sales...

Maybe he's to busy with the Newsletter!!!!:):)

A few days is what he said, but then again. He did say early this month, and I guess it depends, on the person if it's early.

Somewhat frustrated to say the least with the lack of any new releases, we've had "early this month" and a "few days", with the money I spend on First Legion products (and believe you me that's a lot here in the U.K. currently), a little information accuracy would be welcomed!

We are getting flustered because this week it would be the eight week since the last announcement, and we do hunger for news of any kind ( is it naps, WWII, continuation of a line) anything, a picture of something, to get excited about. But instead it just feels endless. And eventually in the near future, it will turn people off the hobby, because it is just not worth it... The wait, the disappointment, the wasted time.
For example, If you look at the number of people that is looking at the forum now, versus the people a couple months ago, it is a huge decline. It has reached its peak, and now it will start going down little by little.
I wonder if the dealers will keep ordering a surplus of pieces, or is that too declining. Will it eventually be that the manufacturers will have surplus of items. And no one will want it, unless its a lot less than it was marked before.

I've been collecting First Legion for About 6-7 years now, I don't recall the company ever being on a time frame with announcements about new releases?? And in all seriousness if you think that new releases have to come every month or on a specific time frame you might want to collect a different brand, not trying to sound nasty or anything and I have learned over the years collecting First Legion that there are many ranges that are in play right now and everyone is clammering for their favorites to be added on to, so just hang in there fellas, qood quality product sometime take a bit longer to wait for, but in the end it's worth it...Sammy

I think you all are being a little melodramatic as we are only talking about military miniatures. It will come. Real frustration is when you are out of a job and can't feed your family. Or when you are wondering if you can afford health care. That is frustration. Wondering when the next release is not.

Medium quality and high prices is what will kill the hobby:

I guess time will tell guys!!, if anything is worth it. I guess too that if someone tells you I will be there tomorrow or say I will be there in a few days, or I will come early next month, and it does not happen, you will not be disappointed.
I just believe in the saying a mans word is his bond. And I will not say anything more. Cheers!! :smile2::smile2:
By the way Brad, if you ever want to know what a particular owner. Thinks of you, when you were knocking down his brand, let me know I will foward you all his email.

On March 9 First Legion said they would announce in a few days; it wasn't a precise date so I wouldn't be concerned about it.

Despite the complaining and predictions of doom and gloom, it is always nice to know that our products are sought after with such anticipation! :smile2:

As for lack of new release announcements and it affecting our business and the hobby as a whole, not so much. We do have about 1600 different products currently for sale you know.

Anyhow, back to putting together the new release information. Lots of great stuff coming, the first of which will be announced "soon".

Best,

Matt

...yes but what about the Gordon Highlander standard bearers Matt? :)

It's not likely you will see a reissue of a previously issued standard bearer. Hopefully, someone will reply on the Forum. Otherwise, eBay.

If I may offer another suggestion for tracking down retired pieces, it's that you should cultivate relationships with dealers, too. If you have dealt with a seller long enough, you could always let him know what you're looking for, and come to some arrangement about contacting you, if he finds what you're looking for.

Prost!
Brad
