Does anyone retouch paintings in KC figures? At the beginning, I didn' t want, but with time I did some: I made white the pants of a french grenadier ( i did' t like them creamy); I painted in white some bulge germans ' helmets; made in white an indian' s feather and almost always I put earth powder or white powder ( snow) on them to make the colours less coloured and more realistic in dioramas.

I've often thought about this but I'm no painter. I wonder if K&C would ever consider releasing blanks of some of their figures to allow them to be painted with variations.

I'm doing quite a few repaint and repair jobs now for some Aussie collectors.

The reason is they have either been damaged, so there could be be bent parts, such as rifles, bayonets and such, resulting in chipped paint, or some poor undercoat used, such as a batch of AK figures I have regularly done for Wayne.

Similarly I repaint, because K&C don't produce whats wnated, like Howard wanting brown boots for his EA Brits to make them Aussie 'Rats of Tobruk'. Other projects have been repaints of vehicles for different campaigns.

K&C tries to make what the customer wants, but making a vehicle of pose to go in all campigns of a conflict is impossible, hence repaints/retouches.

As far as making castings and selling them, a lot of makers won't do that, becuse its not worth thier while and moe imoprtant is that its easier for the figures to be pirated!!!!! Selling a casting for $20 makes it cheaper to ruin than a painted one at $40.

I have never had the courage to do it to K&C figures except for the tiniest touches of maybe a silver sword; a black boot or maybe a wood stock of a gun. I have been very tempted to touch up a K&C base to make it more compatible with the terrain but haven’t gone that far yet.
With other vendors, yep! -- Larry

I have done some touch up paint jobs on figures and vehicles. Mostly on bent weapons such as rifles, machine guns and sub machine guns etc but also on flaking or chipped paint on other parts of the figures and on vehicles. It can be difficult to match the paint to the original paint and sometimes i do tear my hair out (not literally) trying to get it the same colour as the original. I have never completely repainted a vehicle and wouldn't try repainting a figure as that would be beyond my skill level!

I do it all the time . Every single figure that I put in a dio is repainted . All the German white camo suits are repainted and I do the same with the AFV ( see example attached) The equipment and weapons of allied troops I repaint on every soldier, etc ....

I only do touch-ups on repaired figures. I have been lucky to get some cheaper, slightly damaged pieces at the last two K&C UK open days. as most collectors do, I've dropped or damaged the odd piece too. I always use grey primer (Halfords cellulose) to seal any metal or flaked paint and then Vallejo model color matt acrylics mixed with 30 percent gloss varnish. If I don't add a little gloss they look too matted and the paint dosn't blend in as well. Most repairs are invisible now and I struggle to remember what I did!

I'm not brave enough for complete re-paints!

{bravo}}.....And I use mostly "temper" colour for children, so I can correct the mistakes

All the time and, I get a steady flow of bespoke request from collectors who want this unit or that colourway. some jobs are a s simple as touching up skin tone to full blown rebuilds for damaged vehicles that have been dropped or, rolled of shelves.

I have about eight quite big collectors in the UK and europe who send me sets all the time for issues mentioned already. Mind, not come across any K&C sets where the paint has flaked or come of through faulty primer as has been mentioned. Usually its tough as old boots to remove when necessary

I have done a few for myself the Tiki Tiger I and the Wittmann conversions from the DAK tunisian tiger which, is a great Tiger to play around with

Total nightmare - I have to reprint 20 AE figures! Mainly the flesh color came off which is most difficult to repair.

Can anyone tell me what paint K&C is using for flesh colors?

About three month ago I've build a new display cabinet for my AE collection. Today I realised that the fumes from the paint I was using must still be strong enough to attack some of the paint on my TS.
Worst is that my Cleopatra (AE20) also got damaged. What a horrible day ....

So please, any information is appreciated.
