I love it and did you put it together and do the paintwork/appying the decals? If so you have done a superb job. I would be interested to see some 1/30 scale figures next to this bird as well.

That mold (circa 1970 I believe) really gets beat up on by its critics, and I really don't understand why. It costs a fraction of what you'd pay for the Trumpeter kit which I don't see as having any better a shape. The Tamiya kit is wonderful but can be hard to find for less than $100. You've done a great job with it, and I'm glad to see Revell providing decals for The Jolly Rogers first CO, Tommy Blackburn. Well done, Sir!:cool:

Thanks friends.

Tom,
Yes I built it out of box. I will snap some pics with 1/30 figure in it. I think the K&C figures (1/28) will be too big to display with this plane. I find that 1/30 figure will be ok though.

Moe,
Yes the critics slam this old Revell kit and I kind of agree with them. My most important criteria on kit is its shape compare to the real thing, and this kit has it correctly; And that's one of the reasons I build it besides cost.

It holds up well, despite its age, and as you said, it looks like a Corsair. I built two of these when I was a kid, Kepford's mount (the first boxing) and then again when Revell re-issued the kit in a "Black Sheep Squadron" boxing.

Out of the box, you can make a nice model of a Corsair, and I've seen guys build this kit and super-detail it to the point where people think it's the Trumpeter kit.

You've done a nice job with yours, cnq, you even made Revell's generic pilot look good! Keep 'em coming!

Prost!

Thanks.

I'm not so much into the smaller detail...but more into the overall finished look ..i.e shape, painting....So I can live with it especially for the price it cost me. Once I hang it up on the ceiling no one could see the cockpit any more {sm4}

Here is a pic with figures (K&C US and FL German). As you can see the FL 1/30 matches better scale wise when display with 1/32 plane

Perhaps we should lobby WBritains to make more 1/30 pilots and ground-crew. I doubt that FL would be interested.:)

Totally agree. I like WBritains new version of figures. They have very good sculpting, painting, and reasonably priced.

After this one, I've been thinking about building the Trumpeter 1/32 TBM Avenger for my next US Navy Plane, and may be a Tamiya Pearl Harbor Zero after that ^&grin .

Thanks, you are right the FL figure does match up better although in my opinion I think the K&C figure kinda looks better against the plane. The FL figure probably matches better against the pilot so in that sense the K&C figure would be too large. The obvious reason why I asked is that I was wondering if the K&C ground crew would work with your plane. I agree, Britains should look at producing some ground crew although with the rate of their releases and getting the product to their dealers, the wait would be a very long time!
