Hi Guys,

Earlier today we were ‘shooting’ a few photos featuring some of our more recent Ancient-Egyptian figures and display pieces.

At the end of the ‘shoot’ I thought it might be fun to introduce a few Afrika Korps figures and vehicles just to spice things up a little and so…

In a scene that might have been stolen from ‘Raiders of the Lost Arkhere you see some AK ‘Tomb Raiders’ who have recently plundered an ancient tomb.

Just as they are collecting and loading up their vehicles with some of their plunder a few Ancient Mummies appear out of nowhere determined to wreak their horror-film revenge on the hapless Nazi stormtroopers.

Now read on… and enjoy!

All the best,
Andy

Good one poppo.

Yes I'm certain an Indiana Jones would be a popular release with collectors !

Checkout Lego's new sets for Indiana Jones Steve. I have a few of the old sets especially the German aircraft.

Cheers,
Grey

It’s 1/18 scale for the Hasbro Indiana Jones action figures that were released back in 2008. Not completely movie accurate, but it looks the part.

I wonder if we could convince Thomas Gunn or even K&C to make a limited edition mahogany model of the German Flying Wing from Raiders of the Lost Ark 😎

Great topic here. I actually started toy soldier collecting as an adult with the 1:18 scale Indiana Jones figures followed by 1:32 scale.
Always loved Indiana Jones and it introduced me to the Afrikakorps campaign.
Fiction but fun and I would love to see K&C create a few movie-inspired figures and/or pieces.
The Discovery of Tut's Tomb (1922) is a great sub-theme of Ancient Egypt and I've been religiously collecting each piece. Any additional pieces and/or tie in to the 1940s would make it even more awesome. "Revenge of the Tomb Raiders" is an inspiring idea. May have to explore it a bit myself.

Tman, great Zundapp you created there. Tried to do so myself several years ago. It was just okay.

and Grey, those LEGO Indiana Jones sets are awesome. I have some of those older sets as well. Built a desert diorama as well as a larger jungle scene incorporating the sets. Had much fun with the theme.

WesternOutlaw, great work on your German bike - I can see you used the PTE motorcycle as the base.

And I’d have never guessed you also collected 1/18 scale! I’ve collected that scale technically since the 1980s with the vintage Star Wars and GI Joe figures, but really got into it in 2000 when 21st Century Toys released their Xtreme Detail WWII figures, vehicles, and aircraft. That line, along with the later Elite Force items from BBI were a dream come true for me and I’ve still got my entire collection… I collect 1/32 scale as well and have quite a few of the 21st and FOV models. (I won’t go into the diecast military aircraft collection, lol!) I always wanted to get into the premium 1/30 scale toy soldier figures, but only did so relatively recently in 2017-18 as they were well out of my budget for many years beforehand…

But I’m getting off topic here 😂

Reminds me of the large Esci 1/9 scale BMW R 75 plastic kit I made back in the 1970s, it had real metal springs etc. Also built their Kubelwagen and Kettenkrad around the same time, wish I had kept them but they took up a lot of space {eek3} ^&grin

Fantastic TMan. I love it! Now... that German Flying Wing from the movie would look great, however, Tom from TGM needs to start releasing additional airecrew. They are becoming harder to locate on the second hand market.

Cheers,
Grey

Awesome. So are these GI Joe sort of scale?
Yeah, my and WesternOutlaw’s German motorcycles are 1/18 (3.75”) scale, same as the 1980s vintage GI Joe ARAH and Star Wars figures… Both our models are custom jobs. Still, there was a period of about a decade or so (2000-2012) when several companies led by 21st Century Toys, Blue Box International, Unimax, and others made realistic 1/18 scale (and also 1/32 scale) WWII, Vietnam War, and Modern action figures, vehicles, armor, and aircraft. Though marketed as kids toys and sold at US “brick and mortar” stores like Walmart, Toys R Us, and Target, those “toys” were really all scale and highly detailed prebuilt models and they weren’t very expensive. That was a really fun time 😎

Yes it was, great time for collecting. Lots available in 1:18 scale.
Just a few pieces from my old collection:

Awesome photos, WesternOutlaw! I’ve still got all the same figures and vehicles 😎
BTW, were you ever on the old Small Scale Military HQ (SSHQ) forum back in the day? Just thought I’d ask as it was a busy forum back in the days of 21st CT. I joined it back in 2003 using the same screen name as here and still occasionally post there, though these days it’s practically a ghost town…

Thanks Tman. I loved 1:18 scale back in the day. I would post on a few forums. If SSHQ was the one that had different scales including 1:32, then most likely yes. Loved seeing all the custom work from collectors/modelers.

1. Loved the 1:18 scale
2. An Indiana Jones K&C figure would actually fit in a lot of dioramas - Cairo, Austria, Germany, Italy
3. If you all still collect 1:18 scale articulated figures, check out the Marauder Task Force line - they did two very successful Kickstarter campaigns - one for WW2, and one for Vietnam.
