Review on the JS2 & tank riders. (2 Viewers)

Hi guys just received my tank and riders today.They arrived with no transport damage at all.My first impression was oh wow what a great tank I mean a really great tank.The weathering was spot on and the detail was sharp and the tracks I think were metal and really well done.I was taken back with it and thought this is were the bench mark is now at.I could not fault it at all and even the packaging was very well done.I am going out on a limb here and saying it is the best piece of armour I now own. Figarti you did a great job and now have me as a collector of your armour.

Now for the tank riders.I open the box and said well this could be really good.They all arrived safe and sound except the solider that hangs on the end of the tank had a small chip on the shoulder.No problem a little touch up will fix that.When I put them on the tank found them to be very unstable and very small. 1/30 scale I thought should be a little bigger but I am only gauging them on K&C soldiers. I found they keep falling off very easy and this has caused damaged to the officers machine gun which I have used super glue to fix. The painting of these soldiers is very basic and no were near the standards of K&C which is what I am using as a bench mark. Sorry guys I am not bagging Figarti at all just a opinion on seeing in person there work. Like I said 10/10 for the JS2 & 5/10 for the riders.Simmo.

i've always felt that figarti's vehicles are it's strong point.
its figures though, still tends to be inconsistent.

I should be getting mine any day now - it's still sitting in customs.

I've noticed an inconsistency between Figarti figures from one set to another. Sometimes they are on the small side compared to K&C - actually 1/30 scale. They are usually tall enough but never as full bodied as K&C.

As for the figures staying on the tank, the figure poses are sometimes beyond what can be accomplished in a stale way. I use a dab of museum putty or tacky wax to hold them in place. It's not supposed to affect the paint, but with the paint problems Figarti has had, I won't guarantee it.

Wouldn't agree about the tank riders being on the small side, I think they look inproportion to the tank, they are smaller in comparison to the K&C russian tank riders, but i think its more of a case of the K&C tank riders being on the big side rather than the figarti figures being too small in proportion to the tank. By the way the poses of the tank riders were fantastic espically the guy hanging off the side with one hand and the officer I would score 10/10 for the tank and the figures of the tank riders complementing the tank More Please

I am with Redhugh here. I wouldn't go by other manufacturers figures as the proper scale for a tank. A lot of manufacturers figures are too big for the vehicles which is done for various reasons. .
You can look at WWII photos or check the actual dimensions of the vehicles using online resources or other reference materials, but obviously it is best to find a museum displaying these behemoths to actually appreciate the scale.

I have to agree with Simmo. This piece is the best tank I have seen to date. I don't have the riders yet, but the commander is fantastic. He looks very "Russian" to me! I'm quite happy with mine.

I recently bought my first two Figarti tanks and love them. I definitely would have picked up the Russian one if I didn't already have a K&C T-34 and way too many things on my wish list. It looks and sounds terrific!

Hi Rick I am glad you didn't come out swinging at me for my review.This was my First venture into Figarti and will not be my last.I have to say I have had the tank riders for a couple of day's now and they have grown on me alittle more.I think I was disappointed that they did not work well with my K&C collection. But all put aside they do match the tank wonderfully.Simmo.

Simmo this is a thing I find with many products from different producers.I see something and my first thought is I'm not worried about getting that I'll let it go.And then over coming months it gradually grows on me until I'm reaching for the credit card.

I chose not to buy the tank riders, however I did purchase the tank itself and I must say it is VERY well done....I like the commander in the turret of the JS-2....The pose and head gear is well done......I did not purchase the tank riders because 2 of them looked good to me and 2 seemed to have very stiff poses....However if Figarti produces more Russian soldiers I would consider purchasing them as Figarti has been improving their figures.....Will we see more Russian Troops???

Yeah, it also nixed my plans to break off the front mudguards to show the tracks. Maybe that can be the focus of a 2nd edition JS-2?

Are you both talking about the curved parts of the mudguards at the ends of the tracks over the sprockets?
There was actually very little space between the mudguard and the track as shown in B&W photos on the previous JS-2 thread. And there are also lots of photos showing the mudguards bent up or ripped right off. The mudguards on my model are not quite touching the tracks and are certainly not joined to it. So I'm not really sure about what point is being discussed?

Here is a photo showing the gap between the mudguard and the front of the track at the sprocket. The gap is small in this photo but I have seen other photos where the gap was bigger.
