Just yesterday my wife, Karen, was at a local library and saw two books on Wisconsin's "Ace of Aces" Major Richard Ira Bong. She knew I was relocating the Figarti P-38 fighter plane of USAAF Major "Dick" Bong back to it's higher display shelve as I decided not to get Figarti's Doolittle's B-25 bomber after all. She looked up books on Major Bong. She checked out two books on Bong and I am glad that she did as one of them had some really nice larger photos of Major Bong, his girl friend and later wife Marge as well as some others of interest. I made some copies of the photos and have placed them on the far left and right sides of the backdrops.
I have attached four photos.
(1) an overview of Bong's P-38 "Marge".
(2) A close up of Major Bong & P-38.
(3) real photos of Major Bong & his P-38 "Marge" & photo of Marge Vattendahl's graduation from Superior's State Teachers College plus a wedding photo of them in early February 1945.
(4) Photo of Bong and his "dueling ace" rival Tom McGuire, Leyte, Nov 1944 that is above the book entitled "Aces High". Other photos show Major Bong getting his Congressional Metal of Honor from General Mac Arthur on 12 December 1944 and a P-38 on display in his home town of Poplar, WI
