River Nile Series Discounted in USA (1 Viewer)

the new navy single figures for the Nile series are called 'number 1' so there must be more in the pipeline.

have to say stopped buying at full price, will wait and pick off pieces when price gets lowered.

wonder how much the Boat will come down too?

Fair comment, my worry is that say in the case of the Marine Gatling gun it is sold out on the Britain's site and if I end up on EBay chasing it, more than likely cost more. The releases are far and few between and while number2 might be in the pipeline, more than likely you will not see it until later next year and I might be dead by than, so for me I try to get whatever is going now, just how I feel. Cheers, Robin.

A number of years ago when RC2 owned Britains this was standard operating procedure...you could expect everything to get discounted eventually.

That is not the case anymore. The current discounts on WAN sets is a VERY rare occurance for a current line to be marked down. It's usually the slow movers in lines that are being discountinued that see the discounts.

I'd be quite surprised to see the Nile Boat discounted by Britains. I can't imagine they have many remaining.

I suspect you're right that Britains do not hold many of the boats themselves but there are still plenty enough floating around (no pun intended) with the retailers that ordered them in.

As with the AZW limber piece coming out soon, Richard quoted figures of 70% already pre-ordered. This will however include orders made by retailers, so 30% doesn't equate to the actual stock that is still or will be available.

The Nile Boat, as lovely as it is, is a huge investment as far as our hobby goes. When you think about it, that's the equivalent of four, maybe five, K&C tanks/vehicles that sell so consistently profitably in the secondary market. I believe some retailers will need to take a hit in order to shift them especially if they intend to order in the next huge investment i.e. the gun limber.

Actually when I think about it, I passed on the Nile Boat and instead have nearly bought the entire Australian Lighthorse range with the money. That's incredible really.

It is hard to know with these "big ticket items" I don't think Trophy was rushed off it's feet filling order for the Nile Boat steamer or USS Eagle and CSA Leopard back in 1998-2005. As you say they were huge investments. Now however they are highy sought after and naturally rare. So a company puts out some of these big sets as a marker of what they can do rather than expecting them sell like hot cakes. I am not sure what will happen to the WB Nile steamer long term or the gun and limber. They may become duds and sit on shelves but down the line they may suddenly become highly sought after when time sort of establishes their true value.

I think the limber team will be the better investment of the two if, like me, you buy one for keeps and one to sell on at a later date. The WW1 limber team is relatively sort after, it hardly ever comes up for sale. Having said that, it is currently for sale somewhere for £100 more than its original price but has been for a little while without any takers.

Well you all know what I think about the Nile Gun Boat - I didn't buy it for investment - I bought it because it's a bloody fine model which comes with 15 figures and a gun!

WBritains have made a statement of what they are capable of producing and have made a very fine job of it. ^&cool

In all seriousness why do you think more boats than Gatling gun models were made? 400 boats at £900 but only 350 Gatling Gun Teams at £109.

No idea really,seems a bit odd but I don't collect the WB War on the Nile series, my boat is full of shiny Naval Brigade figures ^&grin {bravo}}

Cheers

I don't collect this series but if I had the money I would buy the boat. It's a work of art.I only wish somebody would do a flatboat for the FIW period.
