Thanks, and I did answer this in a previous dio but I'll mention again. I just set up my dio on the dining table, no direct light in the room, but there is light coming in from the adjacent room so it's not completely dark. I then just take the pictures with a flash and in most of the pictures (not all though) the walls in the room and the dining table itself (dark wood), will not show up in the picture. I'm not a photographer so I'm not sure why this happens. I came across this by accident really, and liked the way it looked then decided to keep doing it this way. I guess I should try some pictures with an actual background at some point, but just haven't tried yet. Anyway, for now this is my preference. Glad you like it.

Thanks Canucks... Most of my scenes are usually on the small side, but that's by preference when involving K&C material. The figures are so highly detailed and the tanks/vehicles are nice as well, I think it's good to focus on just a few of them at a time. Now I will say I've seen some very impressive large K&C dioramas that will make you say "WOW" and they are quite something to look at as a whole, but it's hard to appreciate all the fine detail of each piece when there are so many, IMO. Having said that, I've been wanting to try a larger scene soon, so we'll see.

Brad you can get a pitch black background by shooting in almost dark with a long exporsure [experiment] - you need a tripod - and delaying the flash which should be a setting on your camera. By delaying the flash until the last possible moment the backgroud will be jet black. It does take some fiddling around to get it right.
