But you must agree Robin the 2 hours spent setting up an creating the various battle scenes was loads of fund an I'm sure it won't be the last time. Nice useage of various Zulu Warriors which I'm sure as time goes by you'll be adding more. Thanks for the time an effort spent in sharing with us an once again what a nice way to visit the forum on a Saturday eve viewing your playtime in the Land of the Zulus. Be on the look out for my next visit to my Land of the Zulus I'll be featuring a few new goodies I receive as a late Christmas gift. ......Joe

Very nicely done. Can I ask what the table/ base dimensions measures for your entire diorama? Thanks, Chester

Hi Chester, I have used the layout of the buildings and stone cattle yards that I have seen in several books, including how the mealie bags and wagons are used. The front of the hospital was having a second row of bags done when the Zulu attacked mid afternoon and was only partly finished. The biscuit wall and redoubt in front of the storehouse were built late in the day and were the fall back position held overnight after the hospital was burnt down. The mealie bags ran along a natural small ridge in front of the buildings, which gave them a slightly more elevated defense. I use a roll of fake lawn 1m x 2m normally intended for putting greens on golf courses. I spread the roll over my outside glass table with the roll overhanging a little on all sides. Although I set it out once on the floor, its much nicer to have it at waist height for viewing. Really enjoyed setting it all out, I think I have done it correctly from the books I have studied. This has been on my mind for 2 years to complete this and the recent water cart release was the last missing piece. Cheers, Robin.
