I have that set up cool ain't itClose up of gun. J
Hi Brett - great idea - but not only Rorkes Drift but also Isandlwana giving Andie the options of cavalry, artillery and buildings. As one collector wrote in a previous reply Rorkes Drift has been done by other model company's it's about time someone took an overview of the war and not just this engagement - best of luck with this one - I personally would collect Zulu War figures and put On Hold other items I collect -

Hi Guys,
This is Brett Williams from The Military Workshop in Brisbane, Australia. Ex- Royal Hong Kong Police (like Andy of K&C) and saw K&C starting as my wife used to work in shop next to K&C. Migrated to Oz in 1997 before the handover in Hong Kong and started dealing in K&C about five years ago.
Being from UK and son of Army Officer I go for the historical figures rather than WWII. Napoleonics my main area of interest. Recently bought the Crimean range which were great although still cursing K&C UK for getting that as an exclusive range !!!
So far K&C has done well in covering areas of interest to collectors. Naturally I have been requesting the Lighthorse Charge at Beersheba and I hope that and Aussies in Gallipoli and the Western Front are included in the WWI range in due course.
However I need some backup from forum members ! I have been requesting that Andy (K&C) do Rorkes Drift / Zulu Wars. I personally like this campaign/battle and think very popular with most guys due to the great movie and the fact 11 VC's in one day. His response is that most other toy soldier companies have done it already and therefore not planning to do it. Whilst I respect his right to make commercial decisions I strongly believe that a K&C Rorkes Drift range would be incredibly popular.
If you would be interested in such a range please add your support via this forum. If you are a collector or dealer and see Andy at a show also consider mentioning it if you think a good idea.
In the meantime best wishes to all forum members.
Regards Brett Williams
PS Before I came to Oz I had never met or heard of any other Brett other than Brett Maverick (from the Western series) and Brett Sinclair (Roger Moore in The Pursuaders TV serives). However down under it is almost as common as John and first person I ever met here was a Brett !
Talking about Aussie names. When Elite/BBI did an Action Figure of an Australian in the Pacific they called him Paddy !!! Not actully come across to many Bruces.
Does he have a daughter called Sheila
Regards
Damian

Keep the support coming guys.
However if Britains are about to bring out a range of Rorkes/Zulu War figures
I don't fancy our chances of a K&C range. However the SAS figures popped up out of nowhere so hopefully Chard, Bromhead and Jones, Jones and Jones etc could do the same.
When I was in the Royal Hong Kong Police the riot companies were called Alpha, Bravo, Charle etc. Due to the British army moving out they had to create three new comapnies for border control and they were going to be X-Ray, Yankee and Zulu. All the expats were keen to be in that company as they got to design their own T-shirts. They chose a Chinese officer to command it and he did not know what a Zulu was.
Anyway a great movie which would be hard to beat if re-made now.
Brett,
I reckon if Britains is coming out with a new range for Rorkes/Isandlwana, then as the French would say, "We're £ooked" for getting K&C to produce a range.
Dunno though, I've been re-reading some of Louis's posts and he does hang a good hook in the 25th anniversary teasers he sends out every now and again.
PS. I like the story concerning the Chinese officer who didn't know what a zulu was. They sure know what a capitalist is though....![]()
I am totally against K/C getting into this range........We, as collectors, need honest competition among old and new soldier mfg. ,in order to keep prices down and choices fresh....To encourage K/C to become the Walmart of toy soldiers, putting out product and ranges, just to parylize the collectors of other scales and companies, does not help our cause....As it is now, most of us are not able to keep up with K/C's non stop offerings now. And to have all our soldiers of any era, to all look K/C like ,would not allow for the uniqueness and choices of style, that was always and still is the heart and purpose of toy soldier collecting...And, besides, if there is no one to compete against K/C, and he now has to recoup the sculpting and production cost for all these new ranges, who do you think will end up paying for it, with no where else to go for our historical era choices...Beware what you wish for..Michael
