Greg,

We are curious? Why are you de-valuing all these lovely figures and other items from Rosedale, TAW, Sanderson, HM of GB etc. by listing them on eBay when you own all the moulds and masters?

Why don't you fix up your website, assemble and paint your figures with a little more care and advertise them for sale to collectors?

Sadly, we heard from numerous sources that you didn't make too many friends on your recent visit to the UK!

Craig & Jason

The reason we are using ebay is all in the name of advertising! You would not believe the amount of increased traffic into our website from ebay! Also you may be aware that we are not the only makers who use ebay - such makers as John Eden, Tommy Atkins and others!

The Website is the concern of our Webmaster and any suggestions here would be appreciated. Also our range of figures is so enormous that no other Toy soldier maker in the world would have the problem that we have!

With painting this is all in house and nothing is farmed out for others do! We are imroving all the time - as with anything in life, one needs to improve constantly or get out! Does this not apply to everything?? Another surprising thing to you (no doubt) will be that collectors have been and are buying form us! Please comment on the Cavalier that has just been posted on Treefrog!

With regard to friends in UK - I still have some! and to your surprise quite a few! Our recent visit the mother country was not to win friends! But, to take back to UK - what we have taken out of UK, which is a massive amount of companies. What was sad was to tread on toes, or tread in terriorty that was considered our own. We at no time tried to offend people and amazingly this was the first time in my life! The doors are open all the time at this end for whatever lost friends I have!

Thanks for your post - Greg.
PS Let us know what you think of the Cavalier!

Being an innocent bystander on this matter I won't comment on what has been said.

However I will say that some time ago I bought several models from another manufacturer via eBay at under the market prices. The seller then tried to overcharge me on the postage - no doubt to recover the losses on the sale price(s).

Most buyers are happy to pay a small handling fee but things can get nasty when eBay sellers get greedy and don't combine postage costs or otherwise attempt to defraud buyers via unreasonable freight costs.

Hello Greg,

Thanks for posting your figures on eBay.

If not for your current listings, I would have come across your website later rather than sooner.

I hope you give buyers the option to choose the paint finish of their individual choice.

My preference would be gloss for a very obvious reason.

Best, Raymond.

:)

Hello Greg,

In response to your question, the Cavalier figure looks OK. The painting and overall finish seem a little better.

Apologies if our forum email offended you but we strongly disagree (and always have) with devaluing toy & model soldiers by selling them on eBay when there is no need.

As a manufacturer, all this does is upset the balance! Selling random items on eBay in the name of 'advertising' only upsets the toy and model soldier dealers, agents and shops that stock our figures as they have to sell our soldiers at certain prices to survive. Undercutting them on eBay is a guaranteed method of losing their support and their custom overnight!

We have known and witnessed several Australian toy soldier manufacturers go down the 'desperate' eBay path before and they now cease to exist! A lesson to be learned surely!

If you want cheap or FREE advertising, why not send some of your figures to Toy Soldier & Model Figure Magazine or to Toy Soldier Collector Magazine for a FREE review. The FREE 'worldwide' publicity you would gain from this is well worth the sacrifice of a few painted figures.

Why not divert your energies into the production of a hard copy catalogue or a user friendly website with prices!

You have purchased and now own the moulds and masters to some of the nicest figure ranges ever produced. At least honour the creators of these past ranges by offering and producing nicely painted and finished figures at sensible prices and they will march themselves out the door and into the cabinets of collectors!

Hi again Craig and Jason
Another thought on ebay!
Is not ebay a place where collectors come from?
We all may have been an ebay buyer over the years, I centainly have been and I not ashamed of that (9 years in july).
I am sure that my dealers are and spoken with some of them and they are not upset, maybe yours are!
Thank you for the advice on advertising, I take this as a friend or at least I thought I was!
Some of the other Aussie compianies that you eluded are still going and I am sure that thay would not be happy if they heard of what you had said "ceased to exist"!
But, I can asure you that Fleurbaix TS will be around in 80 years time, as my children will carry on, and hope that your offspring fell the same!
(This is no slinging match accross the border. As one croweater to one VIC)
As i said our webmaster is working on the website!
Our hardcopy of the Catalouge is on the way if we have enough trees in Australia to make the paper - HA HA!
We are honouring our past creatours and masters makers and in no way dishonouring them!
AND ONE FRIEND TO ANOTHER FRIEND THIS MAYBE ENOUGH OF THIS ON THE FORUM- GREG
THE END
