I think Rough Riders could be again a great series and sell well..just watched the Milius movie, great cast ,great Berenger and i'll immediately buy the Spirit of '76 Roosevelt (waiting for the King's X exclusives..)!

Great looking figures! Span-Am War is one of my favorite time periods. If King and Country reissued the figures, one could paint the trousers medium blue and have 1st U.S. Cavalry also.
One observation though. NCO stripes weren't worn on the campaign shirts. (Thanks to John Ford for that false info.) The only way you could tell an NCO from a private was the trouser stripe and width. 1/2 inch for corporal, 1 inch for Sergeant and 1 1/2 inch for Officer. Shoulder boards for officers weren't authorized on the campaign shirt either but I have seen at least one picture of a rough rider officer that wore them on his shirt. In the pictures that I have seen of Roosevelt, he did not wear rank insignia on his campaign shirt.

Thanks for the information DCN1898!I really fell in love with the period..from what i've seen in movies (The Wind and the Lion is one of my favourites and now Rough Riders) Teddy Roosevelt was a larger than life carachter and when i'll have some more time i'd like to read some book about him and know more..Surely i'll buy the Osprey on the Rough Riders that 'll be out in these months..

If you can find a copy of the book "The Little War of Private Post" it is a personal account of a volunteer in the 71st New York Infantry. Charles post was a writer by profession an writes a great narrative of a volunteer's experiences during this splendid little war.It is an easy read. This book also has some illustrations which Pvt. Post drew.

Can anyone tell me when these new Rough Riders will be availabe to purchase? (I presume you will only be able to buy them from the KingsX store in Texas?)

Also, can anyone advise me if the KingsX store has a proper website?? I have looked it up and the only one I could find looks like it is hosted by King & Country Hong Kong???!! ...and makes no mention of the new Rough Riders or what the price of them will be...

Thanks in advance to any of you whom can help with answers.

Cheers

Kiwi,

I think I had posted in another thread that they will be available in late May and, yes, they're only available from Kings X, which is owned by K & C.

I suggest you send Joan, the manager, an email as they're taking pre-orders.

They are now in stock and processing orders. They're also listed on the Kings X web site.

I dread, it's impossible to find this figures now!

I don't know why? I am a strict WWII collector when it comes to K&C with a couple AWI figures from here to there but I saw 3 retired mounted Rough Riders on ebay and scooped them up. Don't ask me why I did it probably just spur of the moment. I don't even know where I'm gonna display them. Maybe I'll just have to buy some of the new ones so I can at least dedicate a small shelf in one of my curio cabinets to Rough Riders.

On that note. Does anyone know of a website that lists and shows pictures of the retired K&C rough riders?

This has the brochure but I don't think it has what you want. Also take a look at this brochure. It has the glossy Teddy and marching Rough Riders, which I have. I can send you a photo of what I have (not complete, however).
