I know theirs probably not too many rugby fans on the forum ,but
with 6 days to go until the tournament starts the natives are getting
restless .
My picks would be the All blacks [probably the best team we have had since 95 ,followed by South Africa and France].
Heres hoping for some good running rugby no matter who wins.
Heres a link to the AB,s doing the pre match haka.

Hello V

I know that this sport is not very popular, here in North America people likes to watch on TV GOLF rather then action sports as Rugby, and soccer, I'm a big fan of All Blacks but I think that France is pretty much strong this year.

Cheers

:)

Haere Mai Vandilay and all you whetus!!

Yessirreee its that time again! The worlds best join in one place to celebrate the game they play in heaven!! After another 4 years of wandering around in World Cup wilderness (again) The MIGHTY ABs are poised to strike (again) at our less fortunate foes (that would be France, England, Japan, Portugal etal - well maybe Portugal will give us a run for our money :D) and All I can say is...

BRING IT ON!!!!

BTW, anyone out there who thinks this is a little watched game? a global audience of 450 million people watch the annual Bledisloe Cup contest live between New Zealand and Australia and the World Cup in France this year will be infinately bigger than that. Wish I was there..

Kia Kaha!

Kiwi

To all the Kiwis out there. Good luck with the world cup. I am looking forward to it liek you cannot believe. I hope it is SA vs NZ in the finals.
Regards

Hi Damian

How could we forget [or the last 20 years for that matter :(]
I was living in france when I watched that game surrounded
by your country men and a couple of fellow kiwis.
Many glasses of beaujolais where had afterwards to drown our sorows.
[even in defeat theirs always an upside in the south of france.]

Dave and Debrito i,m glad to see thiers another couple of interested
partys here [we dont talk about the french the memorys are too painfull :)]
But I still think the AB,s will claim thier revenge ,weve just got to make
sure jerry collins is putting the hurt on.

Gidday kiwi , as youve said its been a long ,long wait ,
as you know the country will come to a standstill when it
gets to the buisness end of the tournament, a few late nights
and a few beers to be had by all I,d guess.

cheers Rob

It is up us to keep this great event in the limelight here. I really am looking forward to it. I don't care who wins as long as we have some great rugby. That Hakka mate is awe inspiring. It is my favorite part of a match againts the All Blacks. France as always remains dangerous and with home ground advantage who knows
Damian

Too right we'll keep it in the limelight! The boys on the paddock from all points on the globe will make history, we will write of it, and the rest will read it. Well maybe some will.

Dave, I hope you get to see the Mighty ABs at their best.

Damian, I know this game means as much to you guys as it does to us Kiwis. I spent 3 months in SA, mostly around Transvaal and Krueger and still have the old Springbok jersey they gave me (sponsored by Castle - a very good beer). Not sure if we will get to meet in the final - you guys will be knocked out by the USA or Canada or Taiwan maybe before then :D

Rob, mate what can I say? 20years of being the best in the world and only once having had the right to claim that title. The Aussies are alreadyplaying their media games and announcing early injuries! Needless to say its you and I against the world for the next 6 weeks - Run Silent, Run Deep!!

Best thing about this contest is the atmosphere, whether you are actually there or watching with all the other millions of fans. And that this tournament brings the best out of each countrys team - a chance for emerging teams like USA and Japan to shine a little more each time they play which they did 4 years ago - fantastic stuff!!

I wish all teams from every country - Good Hunting! :)

Well even though i don't think we have much hope of winning this year,i can't wait for it to start. Its such a wonderful sporting event and its great to see the best teams in the world battling it out,as Kiwi said above best of luck to all the teams involved, and come on England!:)

Rob

The fact remains that at a rugby international a Kiwi can sit next to a Springbok supporter and there is great spirit. There is no violence. Football fans around the world are kept apart in cages for fear of violence. A game for hooligans played by gentlemen. Lets keep it that way.
Good luck to all the teams.
Go Bokke
Damian

Does the losing team at a World Cup match buy the beer after the game? I remember that as being a great tradition at LSU when I went there and was involved with the team (no not as a player:D)

You have to understanding one thing, there are sports like Rugby and there is football (soccer) for some people is not only a sport but a religion.

I’m form Brazil, and in my country when the national team plays, every body stops to watch the game, even the criminals take a break.

Cheers

Of course, then, for Americans, there's real football, which is almost America's favorite passtime. (To be honest, I find it boring, but better than "soccer").

Baseball is still king in my book. (but in the sixties they messed it up by switching to a harder ball...sad:()

I still wonder why its call Football, 95% at the time they use them hands to play.

Only in America:eek:

Egads, baseball is boring, soccer is beyond boring, sort of like watching snails mate, give me a good boxing match anytime.

I used to enjoy boxing, but this was back in the glory days of Hagler,Hearns and Duran. And going further back the one and only Ali.

This from a man who can only boast one World Series championship in over a hundred years . Sounds like a disgruntled Cub fan :D

Ummmm, no, actually I am a White Sox fan, down with the Cubs!!!!! So, that would be Two World Series championships in the last 90 years, thank you very much. I suppose though that you being from New Jersey that you have thrown your lot in with the hated Yankees.
