Being a buyer of Russian figures, something that has occurred over the last year is putting me to being an Aeroart purchaser only. The other studios I have dealt with are not consistent in pricing and it constantly feels like you are in a fight with a used car salesman. I am done with that, may have to live without some pieces, but such is life!! I am sure I have more than enough to enjoy without this irritation. Sorry, needed to vent, but when a hobby starts to become as frustrating as your real job, time to change directions!!

Sounds like the Oriental pricing game; once they think you are hooked the price goes up. I had a friend that bought antique arms and armor out of India. First order was reasonable and the next order was higher and the third order was even higher. My friend found a different source and the same escalating price game was played. He opted out of dealing with India! I have heard of similar practices in China; which could explain the continuous racheting up of Toy soldier prices over the last 10 years. A lot of production of optics has moved from China to the Philippines and Thailand because of these price games.
 
The most amusing part was today. Got a price, then decided to ask to add an item. Item added, pricing changes. Then remove added item, pricing changes yet again and original item is now higher!!!!!! What gives?

I called BS and that is that. The worst part is, I wasn't asking for special treatment, just a quote, but with each email was a new deal. Tired of that. As I said, I have an Aeroart list a mile long, think I will stick with that.

kind of noticed a similar trend.same Russian figures of a stated quality have soared in pricing and for me most are out of reach
I have been acquiring a nice number of Aeroart Samurai and I find that the quality of their figures is excellent and, you don't have to wait two months while the figure is painted and shipped to the US

Aeroart figures areis nice but way over priced, if you wait always find items almost half their cost.
 
While aeroart is absolutely expensive, if you buy a kit and send it to an artist to paint to that level, I guarantee you’re going to pay more than $180 for a figure.
That said, some of the newer mounted figures are very expensive. I love the new mounted duke Charles with his dogs, but at $1000, I think it’s nuts.
 
Generally, I have no issue with the prices, especially for the high degree of artwork you receive. As with anything, some will be more than expensive than others, such as Charles. On the other hand you have Henry VIII for $250 and that's a great price.

Not really true. Maybe on some older figures, but the new very high end ones never see the secondary market, as the collector base is small and these figures are set asides or the pinnacles of a lot of collections. While Aeroart may be "high", the quality is there and they don't make a bad figure, there are no duds in my opinion and the range is fairly large in that someone would find something they want. They are more on the works of arts side of things, not the mass battles.

My original point of this thread is the Russian artisan community. That is the price that is hard to keep up with, one day it is reasonable, the next day it is nuts to no end. I don't like the arbitrary model and any given day, it gets old and there is no customer loyalty. This doesn't apply to Aeroart at all, they run it like a fair business with a loyal customer base.

Fortunately, since I started this thread, I have found a new Russian artist I really like dealing with, he is a true gent and attached is an example as he did the Andrea Pirates for me. Exceptional work, even though he was limited to the constraints of the Andrea sculpt!

Aeroart is way over priced, if you search and not rush you find great Russian painted figures, not the low end but high end as there are many more Russian sellers in the market
crazy paying hundreds for single figure, diorama perhaps but single solitary figure, well first legion is almost as good as Russian painting as well and great deal cheaper
 
“Overpriced” is a subjective valuation. What may be overpriced to you may be inexpensive to a person like a Bill Gates. If you can’t afford something, be honest about it, but don’t tell those who can that it’s overpriced.
 
I have friends who think we’re all crazy spending $40 for a k&c figure.

YUP Nail on head. Funny thing the "screaming" about Aeroart. Has anyone checked out Kolobob or Tatyana? Both are more expensive than Aeroart albeit Tatyana is probably the highest end I have seen. Arsenyev direct can be more than Aeroart! Sineus can be more, etc Aeroart is actually the only consistent one. And I stand by my statement that 99% of the time, you are getting a great figure.

It is a typeset collection, not a mass diorama, much different type of collecting.

I don’t care what you’re buying — whether it’s cars, furniture, clothes, or toy soldiers — quality costs more.

but the majority of collectors are not the high end, and yes Bill Gates can afford etc etc, I have had the please to meet hundreds of collectors over the years, very few in the wage bracket.

Things can be overprice only to your personal view.
Everything you buy is relative to how much you have. If your walking around with 10.00 in your pockets it's a bigger percentage to buy a 1.00 candy bar.
If you have a 100.00 in your pockets buying a 1.00 candy isn't a concern. If I have a 100 million dollars and I buy a 1 million dollar car it's the same scale.

That being said I hate price games and will pay more so I don't have to play them.
