Russian Studio Figure Identification (1 Viewer)

I saw the WWII Vityaz figures for sale recently at the GUM in Moscow. They were asking about $800 apiece if my conversion calculation was accurate. There is no mistaking the quality of the painting though. I have seen lower priced imitations by others hoping to cash in.

I got a set of the Yalta figures as a gift, and it came with the catalogue you are describing.

Along with Red Army pocket watches, which were proper watches with movements, not quartz, if I remember, and East German army marching boots :D

Good lord, guess I got a good deal!

I don't know if they actually sell any. The Russian theory of supply and demand is that if anyone in the world will buy one at it's highest price, then that is the price they will ask. Kolobob hasn't updated their website in about 5 years, but they were asking in $300 and up range - assuming they even have any left. Aeroart carried a few briefly several years ago, but stopped for some reason. They seem mostly interested in producing Ancients.

Brad-
What is different about your Churchill figure? I have several of these figures:

Very nice collection, some of those are very nice . Is that an Azid Hind figure ? That is very different :) Congratulations on amassing some very nice figures .All the best Gebhard

Doug,

The Churchill figure I have has him sitting with his cap on his head and his chair is light in color. The underside looks like it says Mel as the maker. Also the sculpting seems better on yours. I didn't pay a huge amount on ebay however so no complaints.
