I think it comes down to legal reasons that may affect our forum hosts, if names etc are mentioned. Not that I think they need to be, as George said, the info is already there.

I think he should be banned from selling on the forum it not cricket :(

Mighty nice Avatar you have there!

Post his details and make it public knowledge. Everyone will then be warned and it will hit the offender where it hurts....his wallet.

Hi I to would like a PM sent , so as to be forwarned ,This is a sad reflection on all collectors, and sould not be tolerated..ern

Sorry for your experience Toyking,it would be good to hear what the seller has to say on the matter? Iam often assured "Toy Soldier " collecting is a close knit community, with secrets and all,but lifes experience tells me there is no such thing, even in so called close knit communities there is always sharks circling, waiting for an unsuspecting victim. Please dont be fooled into thinking that collectors dont dump on fellow collectors cause they do,what makes it feel worse is that people know who you are talking about but as the saying goes "Evil triumphs when good men do nothing".ken

maybe I have just been lucky but anything I have bought or swapped on the forum has been a 100% postive experience....is it just a case of just one obvious bad apple or have there been other bad expereinces with other dodgy members?

What a disgrace to that seller, should put a negative feedback to this guy and lodge a complain to Ebay!!!

If my memory is correct, the buyer is also the buyer for the other jeep too.

Can someone tell me who that seller is?

Thanks.

Hmmm, this is looking like a massacre/lynching...

The retail price of a collectible is valid only at the moment it was purchased. Once the collectible comes into the buyer’s possession, its value is linked to what is called the secondary market. Once a collectible is purchased, most of the costs associated with the retail price (i.e. advertising, production cost, shipping cost, etc.) must be deducted from the retail cost to determine the object’s immediate value on the secondary market, thus, retail cost is not equivalent to secondary market resale value. Depending on several different factors, individuals, auctioneers, and secondary retailers may sell a collectible for more, the same, or less than what they originally paid for it. These factors include, but are not limited to, condition, age, supply, and demand.

There is no secondary market for an item unless someone is willing to buy it, and an object's value is whatever the buyer is willing to pay for it. Industry leaders believe that the secondary market is important for several reasons: primarily to allow experienced collectors to upgrade their collections, to stimulate the market and encourage new collectors, and to provide a means for monetary appreciation. To upgrade a collection, a collector may wish to dispose of things they no longer enjoy to produce the capital to buy other things. To stimulate the market, collectors may obtain some good quality pieces that have been traded in the past. They have an opportunity to learn the history of the hobby by owning some of the items that have been favorites in the past. Another reason is to make money, by selling an item with appreciated value.
Yes, I also took economics but that does not explain sales of items on ebay above their retail price when they are readily available elsewhere (sometimes even on ebay) at retail.;) One could suggest imperfect information but with the internet, search engines and ebay itself, that dog has largely lost the scent.:) I am afraid I will have to go with Warrior's conclusion.:D

The involved parties have both informed me that the situation is being resolved to their mutual satisfaction.

CLARIFICATION: We were under the impression that the two had talked and were in the process of finding a way to resolve the issue.
