The Battle for Sankt Vith, in the Nortern part of the German assault in the Ardennes, raged from the 17th December until the 21st.The mechanized Combat Engeneer Battalion of the 18th Volksgrenadiers with a group from the 1st SS Panzer Division attacked Sankt-Vith in the Belgian Ardennes from the North but were repelled by counter attacks from the 7th and the 9th US Armored Division. The 1st SS however had cut the road leading from the village of Rodt to Sankt-Vith and also the railway coming from Gouvy to the city of Sankt-Vith.The advance of the LVIII PanzerKorps ( especially the 62nd Volksgrenadiers)to the South threatened to close a pincer around the entire Sankt-Vith salient at the city of Vielsalm.
In my dio I tried to reproduce these events
enjoy

St. Vith is a municipality located in the Belgian province of Liège, and in the German speaking community in Belgium. It was named after Saint Vitus.

I got the St. Vith but not Sankt Vith. Must have been a typo error :rolleyes2: Got it ! Great looking pics in this dio

Again amazing Guy, i always love the details and the workmanship in your dioramas.

I googled it mate, yeah think it was a typo..................:)

It's not a typo dear friends . Allow me to give you a small local history lesson :Saint Vith is today the official name, in 1940 however, since it is part of the German speaking part of Belgium, when the Germans invaded and occupied my country they changed the name back into Sankt Vith its original name(Sankt = German translation for Saint) . It stayed Sankt Vith for the duration of the war.So during the battle of the Bulge the city was known as Sankt Vith !!!!!
