Hi Guys,

As I have said and written many times before, a good diorama is one that can be used in a variety of different ways ... and historical periods.
Once again we’re back in the Western Desert in 1942 with a 4-vehicle joint patrol of the SAS and the Long Range Desert Group ... Enjoy!

Glad you left the new one with only a driver mate work well in dioramas looks good Jimmy.

Nothing like a trio of chevies! The new one looks good, I'm looking forward to laying my hands on it.

Simply brilliant to see a new Chev truck on the way for a not to distant release I hope?

The LRDG hold a special place in NZ military history and it's very exciting to see a further addition to this range. I do like the single crew set up for it too, which will work well in a camp scene or observation type role. Must say the new EA114 two man set is one of my favorite's right now and I do hope K&C keep producing some further add on's of this type.

It's great seeing some further allied reinforcements to help muscle up to the AK troops too!

Cheers K&C.:salute::

Great looking Dio. And a new LRDG truck will be anticipateldly welcomed. YEY!!!:salute::

Two gun jeeps, three Chevrolets and a Bentley...K&C is shaping up quite the desert patrol!

I have one of the original Chevrolets.
The detail of weaponry, stowage etc. is superb. Looking forward to seeing a new one. Also, rumours of a new attack jeep?
The SAS in the desert is a fascinating subject.
All well timed to coincide with the excellent series 'SAS Rogue Warriors' on the BBC.

I got started In this hobby, because of that uncamouflage piece, it looked so perfect in my eyes, and the eyes of many I am sure. I hope we see this third one next month. I have been dying to add another to the LRDG force that I have.

Yes... absolutely...I'll add a third Chevrolet to my LRDG Patrol, as I will another attack jeep to my SAS Patrol if there's one coming!

I think that's one of the coolest parts of K&C's rendition of the war in the Western Desert, the inclusion of the Commonwealth troops: Kiwis and Rhodesians in the LRDG sets, Aussies and Indian Sikhs in the Eighth Army line (hopefully some fighting Gurkhas soon!!), of course Paddy and the lads in the SAS patrol sets.

I've been looking at this latest K&C picture for the last few days really admiring the new Chevy. I started collecting N. African pieces long after the originals and was never able to find either truck at a reasonable price (may of even bid on one a few years back). I really like the camo green color scheme of the new truck. The latest addition has me wondering:

1) The price of the new truck - I believe the originals sold for approx. $125. We'll probably see a price well over $200.
2) Noticing that the new truck only includes a driver, I'm wondering if there will be any additional riders/gunners as a supplement set.

Great scene and a beautiful piece - just hate the new pricing; although this will be a must buy for me.

Western Outlaw, I know we talked about this somewhat before, but what is the newer LRDG jeep made of? The old jeep was all metal. The Arnhem jeep trailer was made of some kind of light material. I wonder if the newer LRDG jeep was made of a similar material? I really like this series with their heavily armed jeeps and trucks. I want to add to my existing collection, but I really prefer the heaviness of the earlier models. This lighter version really got me on the fence.

I completely agree with you re. the older heavier metal vehicles. I'm not sure about this one, but I would guess that it's more along the line of newer more poly metals.

You're right of course WO about pricing, everyone has noticed it and as we all know it's a fairly sensitive topic at the best of times. I don't like to speculate on such things, but if the new AK Panzer II is anything to go by then I'd say you'd be correct on your estimate.

Yes from memory $125US each was the price for the original two Chevy's. Looking back I have always regretted not buying the 'Camo' one at the time. Both seem to go for crazy money now-a-days if you can find one, which in a sense will make this new one more attractive price-wise I believe?

The last time I went looking for the 'Camo' model I got offered one well over $300US, hence why that gap is still in my collection.

Like you I'm hoping for more add-on figures to this range and I have no doubt Andy will have some further surprises for us yet.:salute::

The camo and un-camo versions have recently sold for $200 - $225. There were 3 recent sales at that price (and one at $320)

Thanks Terry, I haven't bothered looking on ebay for ages now so wasn't aware of that so Cheers for the heads-up! ^&grin

I'm currently saving up for me trip to Brissy in less than 2 weeks, but will keep an eye on ebay all the same.

I cannot wait for the new Chevy LRDG truck camo in green. Bring it on and more release for this line that is one of the best.
