Ladies and Gentlemen of the Jury.
Looks to me like those naughty hackers have been hard at work again.

This is not me stirring the porridge once more.
This is not me posting under an alias.

This is an extremely good (satirical - I assume) post though.
I wish I had thought of it first.

Of course, why else should we buy all those dvds.:D I know I will soon have to replace Battle of Britain, Kelly's Hero's, Force 10, Raiders, the Last Crusade, Where Eagles Dare, the Wild Bunch, the Outlaw Josey Wales, the Adventures of Robin Hood, Master and Commander, the Blue Max, Mash, Quigley DU, the Rock, Ronin, LOTR, Twelve O'clock High and Zulu among others.;) I was going to add A Bridge Too Far but it is too anti British for my taste.;)

Spitfrnd,

Despite the fact that I've never seen it, I have it on good authority that Kelly's Hero's is crap.

I dunno like, just what someone on here told me - so it must be true.

Naa, naa, that was someone moaning about the Germans in SPR looking like skinheads, whereas they probably did shave their heads in the fight against lice and other vermin.
Someone on here told me that Kelly's Hero's is crap - and that must be true cos no-one puts misleading statements on this board - do they?

Sorry mate, I am pretty sure it was the haircuts for KH, along with the converted T-34s and the satire. Of course it was anti-British, as well as anti-French, anti-Turk, anti-German, anti_Italian and anti-American.

You know the one fun War Movie film that I could watch over, over, and over - KELLY'S HEROES !! :D :D :D

I really love that film ! ;)

Subs,
I always thought that Market Garden was lost cos some American General was so high on "Electric Soup" that he blabbed all about it in some pub.
No wait a minute, that would've been "D-Day 6th of June". Now who was in that one? Robert Mitchum - maybe - can't remember, but I do remember that Richard Todd's lush English Rose girlfriend fell for his smarmy charms. For shame, I tell you......

And come to think of it, "D-Day, 6th of June" was also Anti-British cos Richard Todd died in the end.

Gee whiz, the next thing someone is going to say is "The Patriot" was anti British. :D

Well, personally, I reckon The Patriot was anti-Australian cos Mel's son in it got killed....!!!!

Right - enough of this nonsense.
I think we're all agreed that Hollywood is - Hollywood...!!!
It's never going to be 100% (or even 10%) accurate, and is always going to get under someones skin.
But, it's entertainment most of the time - am I right?

Cheers

UK,
On your Mony comments, he didn't "have a go" at the troops because it wasn't about them, the war was about him and what a great general he was.
As for the US Para, well I guess he would say "Sorry for Dying and/or Not Dying."
Not going after you, just this is everything I've read about the man.

Hi Ray
Could you be a bit clearer in what your trying to say :)

You lost me on this post UK. What does Patton's infamous "one time" assault on soldiers suffering "combat fatigue" (not quite the same as wounded) have to do with Monty being considered a jerk in the eyes by many on both sides of the pond? I also don't see how the start of the war and the use of horse transport fits? As for why MG failed, well we have been over this before in the infamous thread but there were several much more important reasons, starting with the fact that the plan was a CF.;) Actually it was telegraphed by the poor choice of landing sites and choice to drop in sequence instead of simultaneously; didn't take a rocket scientist to figure what the allies were all after or needed after that.

I personally have no opinion on Monty. I just know what I have read from a variety of British and other sources, I have no independent basis for knowing whether they are right or not. In any event, I would never use any film as my source for history and I regard everyone's version of history as suspect frankly.
