Here you go Alex, I got the thread started for you and whom ever, please discontinuing using my thread to discuss scale issues...Sammy

Scale Wars, is this a new line? The big army people vs the little army people?

No, it's a new program on BBC1. Film at 11 ^&grin

Thanks.....But I have my own forum....No need to upset anyone here.

This way only those who are concerned with the issue can discuss it in private.

It is going well so far.....Hanging at about 50-50

And the good part is NO one is getting excited.

Opening post on the FJ thread

Hi all,

Just curious to know if anyone has picked up the new WWII German FJs sets yet?? and if so what do you think?? hoping I can pick a few up over the next month or so but always like to hear from the collectors and their opinions with product in hand...Sammy

Now you are throwing us out

I don't think I will watch, but if I do I'm gonna wear my secret decoder ring and put on my loyal order of the water buffalo hat and then and only then will all be revealed :wink2:

Well my good firebat, I most certainly did asked for thoughts and opinions but when it comes to (measurements, product won't work with A-B, new and insightful information is being discussed at your website,) etc, etc, well mate I have been down the evil scale road meself and it's a mess, so no need in pulling my thread off the rails I figured I would start a thread for those interested in scale issues and maybe my other thread can get back on track, glad to hear all is going well and informative on your website, I guess I'll just hang here with the guys who don't have that modelers eye, makes for easier conversation, but I appreciate the invite!!...Sammy

Thanks

OK So I will make my closing statement.

There are no better figures than FL

In my humble opinion, the new FJ's are among the best FL has done in WWII

People come in different sizes and there can be height differences in figures.

In this particular case, with figures in hand, the FJ's appear to be a little over the top to small to pass as a short man.

I was planning a nice scene with the FJ's and the SS guys against the US Paras this discovery took me out of that plan, Even if the height was in the ballpark for a short man.

All of the SS would be tall and all of the FJ's would be short.

This is a non problem but was worth mentioning, my scale problem is the 1/28th figures with the 1/30th vehicles...That is my scale issue.

What is my advise to those who are on the fence as far as purchasing the FL Fj's.

BUY THEM THEY ARE SUPER EXCELLENT !

I will just change my dio plans...No Big deal.....Just as the discussion on the other thread was

No big deal. I even early on said I was hesitant to discuss it there, but it just took off.

Sorry if I caused you distress Sammy I apologize

No apologies needed Alex, we all have different views on different topics, but there comes a point when you state you case and move on, no hard feelings mate, good luck in your new projects...Sammy

Your own forum. ^&confuse I thought it was Hobby Bunkers forum. So I had a look. And you are right - it really is your form. And that's a bad thing. You only seem to come on Treefrog when you don't get enough attention on HB. Enjoy your forum and I will enjoy Treefrog. :)

1- Hobby Bunker gave Battleground Art a space on their Forum...A forum has many forums ( I don't refer to Hobby Bunker here out of respect to Treefrog ).

2- I have over 3000 posts here and have contributed quite a lot here over about 8 years.

3- The Battleground Art ( Hobby Bunker ) Section of the Forum has a specific purpose it is very narrow in scope. Here there are a wide variety of topics

4- I don't have the time to spend my life on forums, so the specificness of the BGA forum suits me and those who choose to participate ( I don't care if it is 3 people as long as we have similar interest in specific aspects of the hobby

5- I basically do just post scenes here, because most members enjoy them, and I am happy they do. I am not into idle chat.

6- You can hit below the belt all you want, make jokes, follow the crowd. I follow my own path and have many friends who have the the same vision for the hobby as I do.

7- Take a pole and if the majority of members don't want me to post here I will leave. ( I dare you to do it )

8- Put your money where your mouth is wise guy.

In all the years when I was the only moderator here (other than Pete and Shannon) and they gave me a lot of leeway to moderate the Forum never did I have the temerity or gall to think it was "my" forum.

The problem Alex is not the message but the way in which you deliver and/or express it, the sturm und drang that you purposely try to foster here, for whatever purpose who knows, that being only known to you.

Jazz

I used mine in that case because I didn't want to say Hobby Bunker

I was a model builder.....I am do not consider myself a toy soldier collector ....that is somewhat against the grain of this forum......I don't want to build models any more, I want detailed military replicas built for me.

I am into proper scale and high level detail ...... It is my right to fight for what I want....and fight I will
i don't care how brash I have to be.....I have to say the hobby is slowly moving in the direction I envisioned

So the fight has been worth it...those who want to settle .....if your happy that is fine......but it is not for me?.......that is what I am fostering here and else ware.

I have magazine articles being done on Battleground Art , a website and other plans.....

I am a innovative person and I don't settle

I hope that answers your inquiry

There is no secret that you are involved with the HB Forum so I see no need to disguise it although the use of the word "my" is curious.

As for the rest of it, the problem is not the message -- high detail and consistent scale -- but the way in which you express it and that you are speaking for other collectors. There's more than a hint of self-promotion in that, a self promotion that never seems to cease.

Alex,
I like your Dio's like I said many times before, but I think that by you saying that your fighting to save the world from poorly made toys is self serving and to be honest just ridiculous. look at the other members you have recruited for your site where did they come from?? Here I think. So how are you fighting ??? Just like everyone else here and on other forums that wants and demands something more we ask for it. We discuss what we like and don't like about releases and then we put our money behind what we feel is worth having and a good representative of the item in question, no need for the self promotion and caped crusader BS. You seem like a nice well intentioned guy and I don't dislike you but your coming off in a terrible way, have a slice of humble pie and maybe try again. And please drop the changing the world stuff your not doing anything that many others both here and on other forums aren't doing everyday and haven't done for many years ..except we gotta pay full price :wink2:,. regards Gebhard

The term self promoting...Could you tell me what I am promoting about myself. Yes I am promoting what I believe in, excellence in the hobby, but that is not self promoting I have nothing to promote about myself, just my ideals, which is my right

Yes you do tackle so similar issues here, but most members here are still of a collector mind not a modeler mind, which impedes progress. Also this forum is very much slanted to promoting K&C. Which is a very unfair practice to me.

I participate here, but I have learned much more of what I am interested in there, because the topics are consolidated in a small venue.

There is other useful overall knowledge here and that is why I participate here also.

Many have called my scenes inspirational. That is a great compliment, which I take seriously, and I am able to expound on that in the Battleground Art Forum. Once again in a very specific format which is not for all.

I will say here, those who are interested are welcome to stop in, and stop making me talk about it here, what is here is her and what is there is there.

Your attacks on my integrity and character, force me to bring up things I rather not talk about.

You Say I speak for others. Yes at times I speak for the members Battleground Art, but you will see the forum is a fair compilation of everyones opinion, and those who subscribe to Battleground Art are pretty much on the same page, so it is easy to speak for them if necessary.

I will field any other inquiries, and after this, lets be done with mentioning the other forum here, unless very necessary.

I was on a very busy Fire Department which used ineffective tactics in my early years, I fought a 20 year battle to improve the operations, It was bitter to go against Old Chiefs who had no vision.

Status quo is the easy way, fighting for profound change is VERY hard. I won that battle on the FD, as my Department currently is one of the most effective in the state and has operated on tactics designed by me for the past 15 years. , I spoke for a small minority there also. but I knew what had to be done.

No this entire hobby cannot be changed and should not, as we all have different takes on it. I am only appealing to the manufacturers and members who are into the Battleground Art way of life.

Some are into it and they don't see it in its entirety until, an organization like ours helps them fully appreciate what can be accomplished.

Best
Alex

Alex, we have been very patient (perhaps a bit too patient), but enough! The only reason that 'another forum' was mentioned here was because you brought it up...repeatedly. By saying 'I don't mention it out of respect to Treefrog' is disingenuous because in doing so you ARE mentioning it. It reminds me a Basil Fawltey, "Don't mention the war! I mentioned it once but I think I got away with it!"

If you choose to be a part of another forum (whether it's 'your' forum or not), feel free, but don't come to our forum and try to recruit people to go elsewhere. We are extremely proud of the work that we have done over the years to establish this forum to create a place for people around the world to come and participate in their love of toy soldiers. The sheer volume of diorama photos now being posted is a testament to that work.

Your comments have said, in a nutshell, "There is another place that is much better for this discussion, so please go there." That's akin to walking into Macy's and proclaiming, "There's a shop over on 5th street with much better deals, so quit shopping here." Why would we allow that to happen on our forum? It just makes no sense.

Our policy has always been, "What happens on other forums stays on other forums." We intend to keep it that way. If you and some friends want to be a part of a 'great discussion' elsewhere, go for it, but I don't want to see it discussed in any way here.

This forum does not exist as a platform to recruit people for other ventures. Come and talk about your love of toy soldiers...bring helpful critiques if you want...but enough of this drama, persecution, and recruiting to other sites. If you play here, you play by our rules.

I come here mostly to post scenes for the members of you forum for their entertainment.

Then come the attacks mostly due to my passion for excellence in the hobby

Then comes the defense.

If I did not have to defend there would be basically only pictures and some minor dialogue.

That is reality.

I am a respectful person and I am not selling anything, I am just promoting upscale modeling.

So your reprimand is invalid as all the rest.

Ban me if you don't like what I stand for.

Very few replied to this nonsense here so I don't think it is a big deal.

AND DID I START IT............... NO............JUST RESPONDED TO INQUIRIES

Why dont you get on the other dealers who are here only to promote their businesses on your back.....I feel sorry for you having to put up with that.

Ban all dealers they are the ones abusing the forum not me.....I bring attention to your forum.

I am not the bad guy.

Read this then eliminate me or this thread.

I granted use of my pic on your website, which helps you promote your business.

This whole self promoting thing is a bunch of bull.

You have my pics

Hobby Bunker has my pics

Figarti has my pics

Thomas Gun has my pics

JJD has my pics

And I just sent some to FL

I am promoting the hobby and your sales will increase due to that

Where am I promoting me

By GIVING dealers and Manufacturers pictures to promote their products how do I promote myself.

And if I do promote myself I ask again what am I promoting...What is the benefit I am getting. Please let me know.

Joe Baker and the LT ( God rest his soul ) have pics on the Conte site

Franks pics are on the FL site

Guys Pics are on the TGM site

And I am sure there are others

What makes them different

Yes I mentioned the size discrepancy which in my opinion and others has merit, which should have stemmed a brief civil discussion and them moved on.

All who pursue this Self Promoting thing never address my rebuttals you just keep on spewing invalid crap to discredit me for some reason.

Keep bringing on the BS and I will keep knocking you down.

I welcome it.....Lets get this done and then remove the thread....Bring it on

OK hopefully this nonsense has run its course

Dump this thread for the benefit of all.

Wow. Just…wow.
Alex, if you choose to participate on this forum you may do so PROVIDED you leave the drama at the door and I’m just not sure you have it in your power to do so.
It seems you see life through ‘Alex vs. the entire known world’ glasses so you come out swinging on pretty much any topic you feel you might get even the slighted pushback or contrary opinion on.

You feel passionately about things but you aren't gaining any followers to your viewpoint by constantly being over the top and melodramatic. I can’t think of any other member who assumes as you do that they must go on high alert defense-turned-offense every single time someone disagrees with them. You turn discussion about innocuous topics into melodrama about yourself pretty much everywhere you go on this forum. You see it as ‘defending yourself’ but the rest of us see it as ‘There goes Alex making it all about him and trying to put everyone else on the defensive again.’ The sad thing is, you really don’t see it.

Your ‘mad bull in the china shop’ delivery does you no favors and repels rather than attracts people to your viewpoint while completely disrupting the conversation of the thread for the rest of the members. People don’t like it and they tell you so. You then take their negative reaction as ‘CODE RED!!! I knew they wouldn't understand me, I must up it to the next level!’ and on it goes until you and the thread have completely spiraled out of control.

So seriously, if you want to participate here, do so without all the melodrama and without constantly hyping your company, other forums, and your history and relationship or lack thereof with various toy soldier manufacturers and dealers.

If you want to ‘post scenes here for the members’ entertainment’ go ahead. People do that every day without issue.
But if you can’t do it without all the above attached then it’s a no-go, because the negativity of all the drama, misunderstanding and angst far outweighs the positivity of you sharing your dio pictures, no matter how nice they are.

Ultimately you are in charge of you, and you control how you conduct yourself on this forum. If you choose to participate do so under the same expectations and guidelines as all the other members. If that doesn't work for you then don’t participate. It’s that simple.

Sincerely,
Shannon Reuss
