Scale Wars (2 Viewers)

Speaking of mods they have had a pretty smooth run of late. I am inclined to see that as a positive for the Forum. Someone who joined over the past few months might not even be aware of who they are.

Although they seem repetitious Neil I'm not sure any rule is offended but giving its own section is not a bad idea. For now, I will probably treat them the way I do threads about cricket or rugby although I do tend to look at the cricket ones when they show up since I played it as a kid when I lived in Trinidad.

Brad,
Surely you know that anybody who does not like Rugby does not like sport ^&grin

Did I say I didn't like Rugby Brett? Making up things again. Don't you and your good buddy BL need to talk about a movie:wink2:

I took it that you were implying you did not like Rugby.

As far as buddies go I think you and BL do a good job of liking each others posts.

Getting back on thread, this forum does need to be more tolerant of those members that are interested in scale, detail and other technical aspects of the hobby. I'm not in favour of restricting such discussion to just One thread only. The subjects are very broad, needing to cover the hobby in general as well as commenting on new products and comparing existing figures/vehicles from a variety of manufactures. And if these discussions are to be useful to new members, or those that want to improve their knowledge on these matters, it will be difficult for them to find relevant information if everything is on One thread.

Everything is in the eyes of the beholder, if it looks right to me than it is right to me, operative words being ''to me'' buy what floats your boat and if others want to discuss ''scale issues'' than go for it, if it bores you don't read the thread...easy. In an ideal world all 'Toy Soldiers'/'Military Miniatures' would be 1/35 scale than everybody could mix and match and build/paint and have no issue...but what would be the fun in that.....:wink2:

I agree Oz. ..like you mentioned a sub section of the forum as movies/Lounge have now would work for all things scale related ...Sammy

I agree, and I don't see why some members get so upset about yet another scale discussion. Yes, we've all seen much the same comments and opinions in the past and they do get a bit boring, even for me, but live and let live I say. Do discussions about the same Baseball teams get any more interesting to me over time.......no they don't.

On reflection, that's probably correct. However, if there were a sub forum for scale issues as suggested by RPZ, people could start various threads on topics of concern.

The best way to get this going would be send a pm to Pete requesting that he consider the idea.

There is no ceasing the unstoppable tide of rivet counters or scale.

This just in, they're not machined aircraft parts.

Yes that's right, they're toys and guess what no one is an expert. Yes, it's a hobby. As in not a full time job.

Wait, wait, someone on the internet is wrong. Better spend all night fixing that problem.

I think scale is relevant with toy soldiers just as it is with model railways or a whole host of other model hobbies. You are not going to use N scale with O scale or G scale with HO so why any different with TS? It is when there is disrespect for others opinions that it becomes an issue. As long as the threads remain amicable I don't see a problem. To be honest it is the constant ranting from existing members that we've been down this road before that is more annoying, remember we constantly have new members who have not been down that road !

****And remember you are always free to not view any of the threads on the forum.

All the members who are viewing this thread have been down this road and back, probably a few times :rolleyes2:

I assume you're speaking as a moderator (although that's not crystal clear). If you are please mention to your fellow mods the idea about a separate section for scale discussions.

As my mother would say: "Each to their own said the old lady as she kissed the cow"! I have my preferences and you have yours . . . I choose to collect what I collect and so do you. As long as we have fun, what does it matter?

I think my problem with the scale threads is people coming out with bold statements that are not based on fact !?

It's not about scale because that will always be an interest -- and a concern -- but the proliferation of threads on the issue by one member. Had I still been a moderator (which thankfully I'm not), I would have consolidated some of them.

Hi all,

If we open a thread on all topics of scale here in one thread instead of infesting the entire forum with all things scale related would it not better the forum?? ...Sammy

I've learned not to worry about multiple threads on the same topic. You might as well worry about everyone's spelling, or new folks who join and ask questions without reading a forum's FAQs or doing a search, or the size of images, and on, and on. Tilting at windmills, Don Quixote, tilting at windmills.

Prost!

You're probably right. Being royalty has its privileges! ^&cool
