has anyone gotten the Sd Kfz 251 (aka Hanomag) in grey yet? Getting ready to make a purchase and thinking this might just be it.

Pulled the trigger today!

here's some display inspiration for you. Mid 1942 in south Russia on the way to Stalingrad & Baku. Panzers painted DAK, hanomags still in grey. Plenty of DAK panzers around here.

Looking at the writing on the building, 'Naours', the pic is probably in France. 1SS, 2SS, 6, 7, 10 & part GD were rebuilding in France. Naours is near Dieppe. Did one of these units take part in that action? The 7th was photographed later that year taking Toulon with light color panzers, and the 10th went to Tunisia. Probably one of those two?

The 10th Panzer was alerted to respond to the Dieppe raid and began moving towards the coast. However the landing force had either surrendered or withdrawn before they arrived.

They did a L42 & L60 PzIII a few years back which to my surprise never made it to grey. The L60 never even made it to DAK. Maybe they're on the short list now. With all these commandos running around, Dieppe needs defending.

Mitch did a nice grey conversion. Mitch, would you care to do the honors with a photo or I will dig up the link

Cheers for that. Surprised K&C never did this variant nice little model to repaint

So, I received the Sd Kfz 251 today and it is great.

I am sitting here studying it and trying to decipher the symbols on it.

Of course, the unit symbol is that of the 14th Panzer Division.

The tactical symbol on the back and rear seem to signify the armored halftrack transport of a recon platoon from the first battalion of one of the Panzer Grenadier regiments. Is that correct?

Then it is claiming to aircraft shot down (impressive, I think.)

Appears to have also claimed 6 artillery tractors or other non-armored fully tracked vehicles.

I think the next symbol is 9 trucks (or railcars?) claimed.

Lastly, are those motorcycles, cars or anti-aircraft guns depicted in the bottom symbol?

I think it's light armored vehicles, then wheeled vehicles, then arty overrun. I think

In the photo posted, aren't those Sdkfz 250s rather than 251s? I'm more of a Sherman guy, but those light halftracks look "small" and the side armor angle seems more like the 250 to my old eyes.

seems to have been a very busy Hanomag this one!
