Shark near shore on Cape Cod (2 Viewers)

Oh boy, thanks for posting this great photo, I bet their pulse got a little faster...{eek3}

Is that real? The fin and wake look a little Photoshopped to me, they don't seem to match the surrounding area of the photo in resolution.

Prost!

Going to our cottage in Chatham, MA this September. Hope the sharks have their fill by then, and start to swim south. No boating this time!!! {sm2}

Thanks for the links, Scott! I just found another article that suggests it's a basking shark, too.

Yeah, Quint's monologue is one of my favorite all-time scenes, and probably the best of the whole movie, too. I like how the whole evening scene about the Orca builds, with Hooper and Quint bonding over their scars and shark stories, and how Brody looks at his own appendix scar but then thinks better of it, and then Hooper triggers the story. It's put together so well.

"Anyway, we delivered the bomb."

the big guy paddling with the fin at his six was priceless,,not to him but he did need a bigger boat

There were a series of shark attacks off the coast of NJ in 1916. Lots of speculation as to why including some who believed German subs were responsible. There were a couple of very good books written about it.

The incredible thing is that some of those attacks were not off the coast but deep up river.There are dangerous species that can go deep up river (bull shark for instance, once found upstream near the Andes in the Amazon river {eek3}) and even some at the Nicaragua Lake... Take care and ... sleep well...^&grin

On Jaws, to me the best scene is the first one, the initial attack, talk about suspense and terror, this is a master scene, one of the best ever. And the music does its part too, oh yes it does... A movie for the ages in my view.

Hooper mentions the 1916 incidents in "Jaws", too, when he and Brody try to convince Larry Vaughn to close the beaches.

Yep, I'm happy doin' all my swimmin' in a pool!

Prost!

Yes, I see what you mean^&grin, but then again, it's not the same as the sea is it...^&grin Just ask the surfers, they know the danger (lower than getting hit by a car I guess...) but keep going back, even after bitten!
