Thanks to Bob (UKREB) and Ken Osen I have once again succombed to another great WB range - ACW. For over a year now I have been tempted to do some ACW dioramas with the excellent Valley series buildings and scenics that WB has done so well with. I just felt that I already had enough on my "collector's plate" so I fought off the temptation. Then WB recently announced the release of their fabulous looking farmhouse. Well that did it . . . .

A few things came in the mail today. I call this one "Checking out the Spring House; 8th Ohio near Winchester, VA"

Nice job of blending your foreground with the background image.

Mike

That's a beauty.

If WB goes to the Sudan we plan to take you along for the ride. You already like the desert with your Crusaders.

Nice shot Mike..........I have always wanted the Springhouse.

Is the trough a seperate piece?

Thanks to all:
Vick - It is said that "you should never say never", so I won't, but for now I don't see WWII in my collecting future.

Kreddy - I am finding it a lot easier to discover great Shenandoah/Blue Ridge photos than I have in the past for Zululand or Hougoumont pics.

Scott - What is it I am not to forget????

Randy - Thanks for the compliment. Camel Corps forward!

Michael - Always nice to hear from you. Yes, the trough is a separate piece. Its a 3-piece set, building, roof, and trough w/stump, rock and small hill. The trough piece is made on a 90 degree angle so it wraps around the building base.

Mike,

Looks like you will have a very fun time with this range. I agree on the scenic pieces I have a few myself and they are wonderful. Cant wait to see the figures I use to own make an appearance in your photos. :)

Mike-excellent little shot and ten Yankee dollars will get you 500 Confederates that there's a whole pack of Johnnie Rebs hiding out in the spring-house :D

Bob

Great photo, Mike. It appears I am not the only one subject to temptation to meander into different lines all the time. :D

Thank you very much:
Titus (Jagdpanther) - The scenic pieces are fabulous aren't they The ACW figures I acquired from you will be making their appearance soon in one of my pics soon.

Bob (UKReb) - How'd you know that springhouse was full of Johnnies? At least you were willing to bet with Yankee script and not Confederate notes :D

Andanna - Yes there's way too much temptation in this hobby . My constant vascillation from one range/series to another makes this very expensive ;). My wife just thinks I have an Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) whit my collecting .

Mike,

Nice shot, I like the backdrop, it blends in well with the setup.

Under orders from Col. Nathan Kimbal, the 7th OVI was ordered to make a reconnoissance to Strasburg.

Everytime I look at all the ACW figures you all put up on the forum, I keep thinking just how good the Britains figures are. They have really captured the animation, color, and, most importantly, the spirit of the subject. Great pictures and figures. -- lancer

When you consider the talented and experienced staff that WB now has its is easily explained why their figures have improved so much in the last 2-3 years. For instance, Ken Osen (and he is just one of many) is not only an excellent experienced sculptor, but also an artist, a dioramist, a museum curator, a Civil War re-enactor, and a knowledgeable historian. I truly feel (JMHO) that Wm Britain captures the historical uniform accuracy, the facial expressions, and the "combat veteran" look that is often missing in other's figure sets.

Thanks Joe - While working on a new backdrop this morning my printer ran out of ink. That sure did put my plans on hold. I have tomorrow off from work - perhaps I will be able to complete my project and put some a few more pics up on the forum with some different background scenes.

With the Blue Ridge Mountains in the background elements of the Stonewall Brigade, a.k.a. Jackson's Foot Cavalry, pass by the ruins of a manor house on their advance towards Strasburg and Winchester - late March 1862

Mike,

Two wonderful pictures! I see you are really gonna have fun with this range. I hope we will still see pics from your Zulu war and Napoleonic W.B collections.
