Shoo Shoo Baby at Bassingbourn Airfield 1944 (1 Viewer)

Everything about that diorama is fantastic. I was at Nick's shop and saw it before it left and I can say that, as great as the pictures are, they don't give credit or justice to the work and talent that Nick put into the display.

And ... you did a incredible job of really telling a story with the figures and setup .... don't change a thing as airfields were very, very busy.

Thanks for sharing so I can see the finished product.

Ok, here is the tower at its home at USAAF Bassingbourn! Finally, some order will come to the flight deck!
(I got too lazy to put the background back in)

Hi Zach,

Who made the tower?

IIRC, someone was working on something like that and posted preview pics here at TF.

Don't believe that I ever saw pics of the final product.

This one was made by eleven trees designs. They were great to work with. Highly recommended.

I remember the one you're talking about, but don't remeber who was making it. That one too looked great.

Your tower is terrific looking. Oh, and I was browsing some pics from "the London Show," and came across this just now:

How's that for a coincidence?

Edit: and the other suspect was Guy's work:

yup - that's the one - still beautiful work on that one!

That one from London show is mine. Lee told me he was going to bring it with him and then ship to me after the show

Love the whole setup and the new control tower. Thanks for posting.

Zach:

Splendid photos, displays and interesting interest on the "Shoo Shoo Baby"!!!

Some additions to my Bassingbourn Diorma :
USAAF 8th Airforce, 91st Bombardment Group, 401st Bombardment Squadron

The first is a hand painted briefcase based on the nose art of the B-17 Shoo Shoo Shoo Baby (the plane represented in the diorama)
The next is a Bombardier's equipment case hand painted in similar style
Both have been painted by Nicholas Gamarello
The last is the wide view of the diorama as it sits in my house

For those who never saw them, Here is the gallery of the diorama:
